Flat-earthers just say the Moon gets in front of the Sun as they both travel along 3000 miles above the Earth. But what's really difficult for them to explain is a lunar eclipse, where the Earth is between the Moon and the Sun.

Leave the comet up to those equipped and ready with all the cameras, comet locators, timed camera shots etc. Wear approved ISO solar glasses, the filament of an LED light should be dim, the sun tiny, dark orange in a sea of deep black.

It depends on how accurate you want to be. Newton showed that the elliptical orbits of the moon and planets would result from inverse-square gravitation. That was a major theoretical breakthrough. Take a glance at his Principia Mathematica and you'll see what a genius he was.
