I think like you Barrett and many others I discovered Billie around Bad Guy. I absolutely loved her from that moment forward and still do. She is fucking amazing. It’s interesting hearing her stylistic vocal change into whisper vocals and now into the more soaring range. Finneas’ production had gone from strength to strength. Amazing growth.

They filmed this video in their childhood home with no budget. at 4:10 - those haunting background vocals is billie singing the chorus but played in reverse. Finneas was a genius for that. It feels like the tide going back out to sea..with those ocean eyes..

You and I are the same-ish age, and I avoided Billie's stuff when I kept hearing "DUH!!!" But then Bad Guy sucked me in and I gave up lol. When I learned that the genius of her music was the natural sibling collab, I wanted to hear more. When I first heard Ocean Eyes, I thought there was NO WAY the song was "already that old"...she was a little 12/13 yo dancer! I haven't given this new album a chance...it's not grabbing me like Happier Than Ever did. I like some of Finneas' solo work, too!

Love this beautiful song. ❤ I used to think that her singing style was not very impressive, but have since learned (from listening to Dimash, who is arguably the best singer in the world) that this breathy singing style is really difficult to do right. Singers have to find the perfect balance of using much air without running out of breath or losing the actual sound.
