It's important to evaluate whether or not the government is using the money they have now wisely, then determine the need to raise super-rich tax.

They tried to introduce a 50% tax rate in the UK in 2010 and tax revenue actually went down instead of up. This happens because no one likes paying taxes so if you raise them to a level people believe to be unfair they will just avoid paying them by moving the money/income outside of the countries tax region. This was also played out in the US by the 35% corporation tax rate which saw billions of dollars moved to places like Ireland where the rate is only 12.5%. Its easy maths to work out that 12.5% of something is better than 35% of nothing. Before anyone says it I'm not rich but I think people should understand that hiking taxes will not fix anything and in fact could make the US worse off.

I just want to point out theres not a 70% tax proposed, its a marginal tax, meaning they can earn upto a limit and everything over that limit is taxed at 70%. Say the limit is 100 million, if they earned 101 million that would be 700k tax.

I think 2% tax on capital is too little. The whole reason for the polarising effect of money (rich getting richer and poor staying poor) is because the reward on capital is larger than the reward on labour. If you invest your capital on the market you get an average rendement between 5 to 10%. So a tax on capital between 5 to 10% would seem fair to me. That isn't even a tax if you ask me but just a compensation for the money that that capital earns you by doing nothing. And to be honest I think a much higher tax on capital or at least on passing capital on to next generations (heritage) while taxes on labour should be much lower. In that way people actually get closer to getting what they deserve by how hard they work for it instead of just being well of because daddy was.

The tax rate should be 15% for everyone no matter how much you make. Make 10k pay 1.5k Make 100k pay 15k Make 1 mil pay 150k Make 10mil pay 1.5mil Make 100mil pay 15mil Male 1billion pay 150million. Make 10billion pay 1.5billion. Make 100billion pay 15 billion. Its easy it's fair and encourages people to make more while paying the same percentage in taxes.
