Billy Bremner was a Scottish professional footballer and manager. Regarded as one of the game's great midfielders, he combined precision passing skills with tenacious tackling and physical stamina.

Billy sure died way too early, as a footballer, it was as if he had dynamite in his belly all the time. A great servant for Leeds utd. Maybe his ashes weren’t retained, but are now with the family . RIP Billy, a veritable legend and Tiger on the football field 🙏🙏. From a Liverpool fan

Wee Billy was in a long line of scottish player's/manager's who came to England and not only played and managed but really shook the place up...sadly now there are hardly and decent men from Scotland able to do that...now....
@McConnachy7 ай бұрын
Times have changed, and the change is so much money has flowed into English football, so they have the best players and managers in the world to choose from. Scotland doesn’t get the TV money and billions invested, it’s just totally different. The BBC pay more for Gary linekear than they pay to Scottish football. Scott McTominay is a typical example, brilliant and class player for Scotland that isn’t guaranteed a game for his club

World Cup Final with Kevin Keegan lol . That clash happened in a Leeds vs Liverpool league game. My dad was at Hampden Park in that European Cup semi final in 1970 where Bremner scored that goal against Celtic. It wasn't enough to beat Celtic though in front of the biggest ever crowd for a British football match (136,000). As a child, I loved Leeds United and all the great players they had then. Bremner came from Castlemilk in Glasgow just two miles from where I was raised. Castlemilk was notorious for the gangs dressed in skinners (jeans) that were rolled up to just above their Doc Martin boots which had steel toe caps inserted into them. The skinhead haircuts and braces made these gangs look f**ing vicious. Bremner was a hard little bastard as opposed to his team mate, Norman (bite yer legs) Hunter who I always though was a make believe hard man. He proved that when Francis Lee battered him in that most famous famous fight. If you haven't watched 'The Damned United' movie with Michael Sheen as Brian Clough, it is an all time great in my opinion.

Billy Bremner came from Raploch, Stirling......please check your facts, ...he signed for Leeds in December 1959.......long before skinheads and Doc Martins...
@dicksmall79767 ай бұрын
@@user-io5tv1rv4v Well googled! It was Eddie Gray that came from Castlemilk. Will you, can you ever forgive my error? As for the asinine comment re skinheads and Doc Martins .... no comment! You are obviously from Tunbridge Wells!

Incorrect the fight with Kevin Keegan was not a league game it was the 1974 Charity Shield Match between Leeds (Champions) and Liverpool (FA cup winners) at Wembley.

A view from the UK. I've though about it long and hard and decided to post. I'm gonna be controversial here and disagree with the eulogies being posted. The Leeds teams that played under Don Revie were one of the dirtiest ever to have graced a field of play. Probably vied for top spot with Chelsea. They kicked skill off the park. Does anyone remember 'Norman Hunter bites your legs'? They kicked their way to success. I know the defence were told to 'stamp your mark with your first tackle' by you know who. I had a good friend called Trevor Cherry, (do your research), whom i played golf with, should anyone require my source.
