You are both right to a degree....his sister's wedding inspired the song but "little sister" is also slang for girlfriend and he was intending it to be about a former flame. A "shotgun wedding" is when the father of the bride marches the boyfriend under threat of a shotgun to the alter to marry his pregnant daughter.....an old fashioned term which today just means the girl had to get married due to pregnancy. His lead guitarist is the very talented Steve Stephens.

10:08 - 10:35 guitar is clearly designed to replicate the pealing of churchbells. It’s a really clever musical integration with the lyrics/theme.

I love how he sarcastically snarls "white wedding", as in "No virgin is getting married here, folks!". These days a white wedding is more about a woman's first marriage than about her virginity.

Thanks for the fun review! You might have missed it, but the lyrics he wrote in the last verse are very profound and cool. "There is nothin' fair in this world, baby. There is nothin' safe in this world. There's nothing sure in this world. There's nothing pure in this world. Look for something left in this world! Start again!" I think Eyes Without A Face next would be great. It's moody and quite different than his other hits, but is still excellent.

Hey guy's just a note on billy he had a girlfriend she was sixteen which he really loved and she left him with another guy Billy couldn't get over it thus most of his songs are about her. eye's without a a face, sweet sixteen, white wedding GREAT REACTION👍👍👍

I think another great deep cut of Billy's is Don't Need a Gun. Super great song with tons of vocal range and great guitar riffs, has a great 80's city nightlife vibe to it plus the lyrics are awesome.

I wanna say ya'll are some of my favorite reactors fr, I love the breakdowns at beginning of vids, your impressions during the middle of songs, and the little discussions after the song is over. 🤣😂🤣😂🤣Sounds like he's stuck on a water slide!. So funny, i fell on the floor. Having grown up in the 80's, expecting 'special effects' in music was just a given as artists were always experimenting, especially here as Billy idols music was more rock/pop than synth. To here a new generation fall about, making every day sound comparisons is just hilarious. A great new take guys.

The A-side of the 12-inch of "White Wedding" is labeled (Parts 1 & 2) which includes the added instrumental version for a timing of 8:20 (for Club play) The B-side has the 3:30 version which is the single. The LP version was 4:11.

This is a day late and a dollar short, but here it goes. In the earlier times a good woman did not have sex before getting married. If a young woman got pregnant out of wedlock her reputation would be ruined. To protect her reputation the father would get his shotgun to force the young man responsible for this to marry his daughter. So there would be a quick wedding and people would remark on the baby coming 2 months early. The woman's reputation was saved.

Check out the band liliac . family band 5 members ranging in age from 11 to 21. They have done covers songs Dio holy diver, rainbow in the dark, also metallic enter the sand man, iron maiden the trooper. They also have original music. Check out the live version of Mars from Cummings Georgia and go from there. They ROCK! You will be impressed

You guys are missing out on a lot of music going back to 50s and older. Lots of blues masterpieces and Elvis and Otis Redding and Marvin Gaye..it goes on and on. Treat yourself back to the roots at least to the King of Blues and King of Rock. Your missing out boys! This video was shocking to people when it came out from what I remember when MTV was actually nothing but videos of new artists and current and headbangers ball. Now it’s trash along with the so calls music of the 21st century. 20th century had it down boys! Great song! He’s an amazing artist and sister is not about his sister at all.

So sad that the gentleman to Nick's right (Ry?) didn't seem to know that it wasn't always culturally acceptable to give birth outside of marriage in America. 50 years later and the reasons why are becoming quite apparent. Break down the nuclear family, replace religion with state, and convince people that their failures are the fault of someone else - that's the formula for defeating an enemy. I like your reviews, though I totally disagree about the '80s music. I guess it's true that we all fondly remember the music of our youth. And the only thing that remains constant is change!
