The body of young Billy was actually the guy that got him to do this song.

I was very lucky to spend time with Billy back at the height of his success. He probably wouldn't remember, but I went to high school with his lead guitarists/musical director David Brown's younger brother. I got to go back stage and to the hotel at fifteen and party with the band. I went on the run to buy beer for Billy's thirty fifth birthday party in Boston. He was an inspiration for me in becoming a life long professional musician. He also dispelled the notion I had that famous people were somehow above the average person. Billy was and is an average guy. He never bought into the fact that he was famous. Just a good person.

I’m sitting here crying because this is that time of life for me and my husband of 51 years. The song is beautiful and the words so meaningful. He’s been rock steady all these years of entertaining us. My kids were teenagers and they asked me what I wanted for Christmas. I wanted a Billy Joel’s Greatest Hits. I just about have worn them out over the years!! This song has me thinking about how I want to make things better again. Thanks so much for this wonderful video today. 🎶 Cyd

You know that a musician is a stand-out when they can put out three volumes of greatest hits like Billy has, and you have 40 of his own written song over the three versions and not a poor song among them.

Billy is talking about Music.....he left music.....and then he has come back to Music....did he wait too long .....because....things have changed so much....did Billy wait too long to put out a song that everyone will identify with....or will he be forgotten. And now, he knows that everyone still remembers him. Great song!!!

I hadn’t heard this song! So awesome! I have always loved all of Billy Joel’s career! I love the 80’s stuff, but also love the early piano music which this is reminiscent of and so beautiful. The video is definitely so great, showing him through his career!!❤❤❤ And he can still perform as well as always!! Thank you guys!!❤❤❤

Not only was the video masterfully done, as you pointed out, but so was your review. I've watched the video probably 50 times (to learn to play the song) and still, I teared up as I watched and listened to your reactions to it.

So glad your reaction is on KZfaq now. Yes, Uptown Girl was Christie Brinkley as far as I know. Ninja knows things :) He is the king of melancholy, I swear. His was probably the best show I've ever been to. It's really something to see him. Plus he surrounds himself with amazing musicians, as well, because he can! So that helps. Thank you for reacting to the great Billy Joel. You guys are awesome.

The song is about his relationship with his music not a person.

Yeah. This song is not about a relationship with a single person, it’s about his relationship with fans and the music itself. He may realize that he was silly to just stop writing back in ‘93 just because his songs weren’t selling by the millions anymore. His fans like me who grew up listening to him and revering his music kinda felt he abandoned us. I feel millions of us would have continued buying and listening to his stuff even if it didn’t make radio rotations. Another of my faves is Todd Rundgren, who has never stopped putting out new material, and touring. Some his albums were a bit meh, but Instill bought them, and they still had a lot of great songs!

Technically, the last time he released new material was 17 years ago. The song was his apology and his lamenting over his 30 year stagnation of his career when he lost his passion for song writing.

They used brand new deepfake technology. For these scenes a double was playing at the piano, then Billy's face was deepfaked on. Incredible.
