Sometimes I think we forget how a bit of simple fishing off a dockside can actually be a bit of a giggle and just as enjoyable as reeling in a stunning halibut!! So nice to see it glide back off to the deeps. lovely job buddy, appreciate your efforts 🎣👍🏼

I live in Maine, we also catch harbor pollock, and use them for bait. Unfortunately, we have to take them to use a boat to then catch most other species of fish. Norway has placed its culture and its people before industry. You’ve done a perfect job managing your fishery.

“You could entertain yourself like this as a kid”. That’s exactly what my brother and I did. We each got a set of green fiberglass fishing rods for Christmas when I was about 7 years old and boy did we fish! Our special place was a low bridge. We fished enough miniature Coleys to fill a plastic shopping bag at a minimum, sometimes more. When we got home, mom used to say “Wow, you did good. I’ll clean them up later”. Getting older I started to think about this. I could not remember eating a lot of Coleys, and after bedtime my brother and I heard a lot of seagulls quarreling nearby. Hmmmm…. I wonder where the fish went? But at least she didn’t take away the joy and excitement we got from fishing 🎣 ❤ Keep on fishing and making these fantastic videos brother 👍

Brilliant video Billy, I've always been very sensitive to how fish are treated wether they are taken or released, Your videos are a statement to other you-tubers on how fish should be treated, I have always killed fish immediately if I was taken them, however I used to knock them on the head, since I began to watch your videos you have shown me a much better and humane way of dispatching fish via the spiking method which I use every time I keep a fish. I have seen videos where fish are allowed to slowly die while the moron that caught it grins stupidly into the camera. High quality content, and well described. As a norwegian heavily invested into halibut fishing, its cool to see different ways of catching this beautiful fish. I usually go around by boat, but always wanted to try bait-fishing from shore. If you ever get the chance to travel to Frøya in Sør-Trøndelag, this area has a great halibut population worth checking out.

Hi there Billy. A merry Christmas to you. I've just stumbled across your channel and it's fantastic. When I was younger I'd go fishing every August with my uncle in Galway for mackerel. I think that's where I caught the fishing bug. I did some pike and carp fishing when back home in the UK. For a little while I lived in Thailand and got to caught big and powerful fish out there. I was spoiled for the fish I could catch. A few years later I did some shark fishing in Florida a couple of times. Catching shark up to 11 feet off the beach. On one trip I think my bait was picked up by a hammerhead. The reel started spinning like it was attached to a bus. Even with the full 40lbs of drag it didn't slow down. Unfortunately the 150lb line broke. It's great to see someone like yourself fishing for big fish in a place like Norway. Some of the powerful reels I hot for Thai fish and sharks are popular with the Halibut anglers. Its something I'd like to try some day but I'm not a fan of cold weather. I'd rather fish somewhere hot. I now have my daughter Jessica and I hope to show her some of the Thai and Florida fishing in the future. Anyway, looking forward to seeing more of your content. Billy, you are a gentleman and a fine fisher-man scholar. I had your channel recommended to me and it’s strange how the world works. But I was immediately Hooked to your Channel. I watched six more videos and went ahead and subscribed and thumbs up all! I don’t have time unfortunately to fish like I used to. But if I could take you to Northern Maine around the Lakes of North Twin Dam in Norcross, Maine. You would find 5 Lakes that span 28 or so miles & one of them 100 foot or more Deep. And winter the Ice Fishin’ some Northern Pickerel and White Perch biggest you have ever seen. Miss my childhood lol Peace be with you. Be looking forward to you pulling in some more Gladiators!

Ya gotta love when I plan comes together. And yes...I've been laughed at more fish than I've been able to laugh at. This is the sixth year I haven't been able to chase tuna this fall/winter. But it's looking like all my surgeries are done & finished. I promised the Baker Lady one "large" fish. I'm thinking a Bluefin at-around 75 inches should do the trick. (catch & release) So next year it is. Thanx for posting Bud. It was a good watch.

It's always interesting to see how Europeans bait fish. I've use 15-20lb fluorocarbon or straight mono for our local California halibut. Simple Carolina rig and live bait. Cool to see the penn 525 , I used mine last season for mahi mahi, sea bass ,school grade tuna and amberjack.

Cool fishing mate. Ive been to norway quite a few times. Mainly up north fishing for coalfish in the summer with big poppers and jerkbaits in the tidal changes. Biggest ones are 40lb+ and they fight like demons :) Keep making videos man!

To lock of the dingle dangle, a 1cm square of bicycle inner tube on each side of it on the circle hook works wonders.

Thanks Billy, nice halibut, we use whole halibut like that as bait for flounders in Northern Ireland, the flounders we catch are 80cm between the eyes 😂

That's excellent advice regarding casting too far. I'm really bad for launching it to the horizon, when all the fish are hunting in the breakers in my local beach. PB Bass was about twenty yards out lol.
