OMG your reaction to Justin's beat boxing CRACKED ME UP!!! That was the best part of this whole video. Fun Fact: Joey actually broke his ankle - or maybe it was his foot? one of the two - while filming this video which is why he's sitting so much throughout most of it and not dancing as much. Their choreographer Wade filled in for him when they were all standing but the director was able to move the camera so that unless you watched "Making the Video", you might not have caught the switch-up.

And this is why the late 90’s and early 00’s was the golden era of pop. The 80’s paved the way, they reached the pick in the golden era, and it started to decrease in the 10’s. You can’t deny that. They had to be unbelievable good at everything, today is just about vocals and the performing is forgotten.

I was 15 when this song released. The lyrics to this song have a strong meaning behind them! Back then, people HATED on Pop music so bad. You would get laughed at or teased for admitting to listening to Pop music. People would say that Pop music was a "fad" or a "trend" that wouldn't survive the music industry, and would quickly disappear. So NSYNC made a comeback to all the negativity that Pop music was receiving back in those days, talking about how you know that Pop music makes you wanna move and dance, whether people wanted to admit it or not! 😘 "Sick and tired of hearing all these people talk about: 'What's the deal with this Pop Life, and when is it gonna fade out'? The thing you got to realize, what we're doing is not a trend. We got the gift of melody, we're gonna bring it till the end!" 22 years later, we can confirm that Pop music definitely survived the music industry! 🥳

This song was about the stigma of pop music especially the rise and fame of boy and girl group/bands that started coming out in 1997-through the early 2000's. One rapper in particular, who made parodies in his video was Eminem...so then came the pop music backlash and over-exposure stating that boy and girl bands releasing catchy pop songs are transparent and have no talent. Nowadays, it's ironic how a pop artist will have a rapper featured in every song ever released and hip-hop is now part of the pop music culture. Pop, basically derives from the word "popular" music which is what is relevant at the time of the music scene. So this song was like their anthem saying: "we're gonna do our own thing, and you do your own thing, but there's got to be mutual respect, 'cause we ain't here to diss you and you should treat us the same." Also, side note: Mariah Carey is also responsible for making pop-hip hop collaboration happen when she released Fantasy featuring O.D.B. ('Ol Dirty Bastard from the Wu Tang Clan) in 1995.

OMG! Your face when Justin started beat boxing was hilarious! Us fans loved it though. I was not use to hearing that alot back then. He really made that more popular and he got alot better over the years when he went of on his own and started his solo career. I was 14 years old in 2001. So Im like around 6 years younger than Britney Spears. I remember watching and following N'Sync and Backstreets Boys and Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera and Boyz 2 Men and so many other great bands and singers from the very beginning of their careers. And its not like we had social media or youtube to turn to and watch music videos on our old ancient cell phones like y'all can today. Alot of us teens in school did not even have the internet. Some may of had it. But me and my friends did not have much interest in it. It was not as appealing as it is now days. We had old huge computers that had games on them. I played Organ Trail on a old computer. And I wrote fiction stories for fun so I used the computer for that. But other than writing and games. That was it... I was 18 years old when I got my first laptop. And that was in 2005. LOL! No we had to wait and watch TRL MTV with Host Carson Daly in order to see all of the newest music videos. And we also had Pop Up Video. I watched that show all the time and I was a very loyal fan. I saw N'Sync, Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, Matchbox 20, 98%, LFO, Spice Girls, Metallica and so many other great bands and singers in concert. I wish I could have seen Kacey and Jojo in concert and some others. Kacey and Jojo (They have a beautiful duet song together.) My favorite N'Sync memebers was Justin Timberlake and then J.C. I remember Joey Fatone breaking his ankle or something in the making of this video and they had a dancer come in to do certain parts for Joey. J.C.'s hair was super long in this compared to how short he use to have it sometimes. Now that he is older he keeps his hair even longer than that now. I watched a short Interview of Justin suprising Ellen DeGenerous on her show by bring out his old band memebers from N'Sync. They also played the game Never Have I Ever. Which was real funny. They reveal some secrets. Justin does not give away any names. But us obessed fans of his know alot about his personal life and no this little tidbit... I dont know if you know this but Justin once hooked up and slept with Baby Spice "Emma" the blonde who often wore pigtails in the girl band Spice Girls. Cool fact! N'Sync member Lance Bass guest starred on Justin Timberlakes wife (Jessica Biel) old tv show back when she was younger. It was the show 7th Heaven. Jessica Biel plays Mary. Thankfully Lance goes only on a date with Marys sister Lucy and he kisses Lucy on the date and thankfully not Justins future wife Jessica. LOL! It was so shocking when he later came out of the closet. But if you look at him now. I think he is the most attractive N'Sync member now. The others look okay. Chris and Joey put on some weight. J.C. put on a little weight too. Justin is still slim but he has aged and I like him better blonde. So Lance Bass seems to have aged the best out of the other members. See for yourself on the Ellen show. Also Lance has more personality and confidence now than he did back then. He was always a little shy. But he is a pretty funny guy. I like him better now then I did back then. You can look up the youtube video of Lance Bass teaching a lady on a show how to do the "Bye Bye Bye" dance routine. Strangely enough I remember there dance routines and Britney's and Backstreet Boys the most no matter how much time goes by without me re-watching one of their videos. I still remember how to dance to their songs! Lol!

Ashley, girl, you took me way back with this one. I remember having that big ol' desktop and being serenaded by the dulcet tones of my 56k modem dialing up to AOL. Since I was one of the kids (well, 21 but still) with "reliable" internet I was the walking music wiki for my friends, telling everyone when bands were touring through and getting the latest news & release reviews. I even compiled it all and sent out a weekly newsletter to all my friends' JUNO accounts. Occasionally I'd snag the email addresses off what they would forward to me and add them to my newsletter list. Guess I was one of the original spammers lol. Sorry if you ever got one 😅. Wish I hadn't let myself get distracted from writing...skills definitely diminish when you leave them unused for a while. Oh, and TRL...oy. I used to HATE having to watch all the stuff I didn't wanna see to make sure I caught the POD or MxPx video. Always thought Carson was cool, though. Well thanks for the trip down memory lane! Ever since I turned 40 I've been taking a lot of these trips. Have a great day, Ashley!

@@adamwilliams2679 Thank you! And you have a great day as well! Its always a joy to take a trip down memory lane. It would have been super rad to have a friend like you around back in the day to keep up with the latest music. Im sure your friends appreciated it. I was unlike some of my friends growing up. Yes I lived a normal down to earth laid back life. Even worked odd jobs, babysat, mowed lawns and sang for money before I was 16 and bought my first car. Just cause I wanted to prove to myself that I could stand on my own two feet. But I actually have an extraordinary family. Infact some of my family got into the music buisness. And I myself and a musician and singer and I still love theater and dance. My grandfather and great grandmother were also singers and could play the piano and they wrote and published music and are still getting royalities for their music. Even my great great grandfather was a music instructor. My Grandfather also worked at a radio station back in the 1960's and started a band and toured around. Im also a cousin of the late actor James Stewart. You know him best for movies like The Shop Around the Corner and Its A Wonderful Life. And my cousin who is in the music buisness is good friends with Hank Williams Jr. The singer. Hank owns a house not to far from my cousins house. They sometimes sing and hang out. They enjoy golding together as well. Hank is sometimes spotted by fans with my cousin. People dont always know for sure that its him though. Growing up I was a singer, and alao had a passion for dancing and acting. I loved theater and I also took ballet, jazz and tap. I grew up on Southern Gospel and Country Music the most but also loved pop and rock and heavy metal. I started a rock band back in my teen years. It was just for fun. I was not trying to make a name for myself. Though I did get quite the following of fans who followes me aeound from show to show. I had my mothers full support and she and others enjoyed my shows. I have a friend who is a movie director and a family friend who is a movie producer. Long ago when I was in my early 20's they were doing some horror movies. They were looking for some extra actors and I had even some theater with my friend who later became a movie producer. So they asked me if I wanted a small part in the movie and I did agree ro be in it but wanted to be under an alias name. It was like my hidden secret. So not many people know about me being in the movie unless I tell them because I look alot different cause I was younger then and I use to dye my hair blonde. It was a fun experience. The actors tended to play pranks on us girls in the movie. They one time snuck into our dressing room and turned off the lights and grabbed us. Which turned out to be a huge mistake on their part because they didn't figure in the part of us freaking out thinking we were being attacked by the men who wrestled us even though they were not hurting us. But we hit and slapped and punched them until we realized who they were. LOL! After that they learned their lesson to not try scaring us on set because we could definitely fight back if we had too. LOL! But it was scary on set because it was dark and all these spooky props so you can hardly blame us girls for being a little freaked out.

@@ashleyshayday1526 wow! I am super jealous of the experiences you've had, and your family sounds incredible. Of course I had plenty of fun and unique experiences growing up; yours just sound cooler lol. A couple friends and myself started a vocal group in high school. Did not last long lol. I played the violin and the drums and picked at the bass but was never really amazing at any of them, although I do have excellent rhythm which helped with drums and random percussion stuff. Did you ever see "Stomp"? Woulda loved to be a part of that. I wish I would've had a friend like you too. I've always believed that things happen for a reason, when they're supposed to. Wanna be my friend now? You sound super cool, and I already know I'm super cool😁. I've got a lot of free time to chat right now. Let me know. Maybe I can find a way to DM you so no one's info is here for all to see lol. Of course I'll always take friends, so maybe I should lol.

@@adamwilliams2679 I miss the 90's pop and 90's rock and 90's country music. 90's country was the best! I have an old soul so I do have an appreciation for older bands and singers before my time. I love just about every genre of music except for blue grass. LOL! I love Dolly Parton and Elvis Presley (Ive been to Elvis' birth house and also inside his house at Graceland and took the full tour. It was an amazing experience.) And I love Johnny Cash, The Beatles and Queen, and Metallica, Poison, Aerosmith, Alice n Chains, Matchbox 20, Savage Garden, Heart, Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Byan Adams, The Sundays, The Cranberrys, TLC, Destinys Child, Salt n Pepper, Montell "This Is How We Do It", MC Hammer, Emenim, 2 Pac, Blacksteet, Mariah, Boyz 2 Men, 98%, Brandy (she is Snoop Dogs cousin) and Monica Arnold. Whitney Houston, Korn "Freak on a Leash" I LOVE that song. I was not a huge Marilyn Manson fan. But I remember when he came out and he was so different and his videos were very disturbing and sometimes offensive. I did like the song "Beautiful People" and his re-make to "Tainted Love". Sometimes if you listen to the lyrics to some of these rock songs more closely you start to see the song in a whole other light. I actually found Marilyn Manson sexy for the first time in that musoc video Tainted Love. I remmeber watxhing the making of the video on MTV. And I got pretty hot for him in that video and its not because he is so handsome. 😂 But it was the way he sang Tainted Love that made me melt into a pile of goo. I wish he had sang more often like that. It was when he sang that song that I could truly appreciate him and his vocal range. Other than that I listened to his music on the radio but I was not a huge fan. No I was way more into other bands. But to tell you the truth, even though I loved pop singers and pop boy bands. I was an even bigger fan of Alice in Chains and Nirvana and Linkin Park and Pearl Jam and Nirvana and Jon Bon Jovi and Stevie Ray Vaughn fan. As well as others who are to many to list. But I probably listen to Alice in Chains and Metallica more than any other older band. I had a HUGE CRUSH on Layne. May he rest in peace.💖💔💖 I love him so much that if I ever have a son, I am naming him Tristan Layne...💖 I like the name Tristan from my old heart throb Brad Pitt who played in Legends of the Fall. LOL! And if he plays football I think its a nice name that can be catchy. My mother was so lucky to see Stevie Ray Vaughn in concert before he died. Too me he is the most legendary guitarists to live. In my opinion, he is better than Jimmy Hindrex. And that is saying something. There are certain videos of Stevie Ray Vaughn on KZfaq and you can watch and see that sometimes when he plays he breaks his guitar strings because he had such strong fingers. But he just kept right on playing no sweat! He could do an awesome guitar solo using only 4 strings. And he would have a guy nearby slip on a new guitar and he would continue playing. It was so slick and so smooth. That man was the FIRE!!! 🔥 Even better is when he would undo his guitar strap and flip his guitar around his back and played the freaking guitar and practically made love to it while playing the heck out of it behind his back. I have never seen anyone do that in person. But I cannot imagine anyone better than Stevie Ray Vaughn. He was in his 30's when he passed away. So sad! I have been lucky to meet some of my favorite stars. Thanks to connections and by lucky chance and similar friends. One of the most amazing experiences I have had with a star was when my mother and I did get to meet Jon Bon Jovi and his band. Their tour bus happened to come by a very popular camping park and stay in the same place we were for a short vacation and he was super nice and I shared my love for music with him. And his band joined us as we sat around the fire and we roasted marshmellows and made smores and Jon got out his guitar when I told him about how I was a huge fan of his music so much so that I often sang cover songs of his band. And he asked me if I would like to sing a few songs with him so he got out his guitar and the first song we sang was the "Livin on a Prayer". I was in Heaven!

@@ashleyshayday1526 holy crap!! YOU JAMMED WITH BON JOVI!! That is freaking awesome! It's always nice when we get to meet someone who's helped shape who we are and they actually appreciate it and turn out to be a nice person. Not to name anyone, but I've had less than pleasant interactions with a few famous peeps. Kinda leaves a bad taste in your mouth. I was on a 90's kick at the end of '19. Found a playlist called "I miss the 90's" and the best was how the description said "songs you would have heard playing in the central perk cafe". Listened to the songs and thought how fun it would be to hang out with the "Friends", and then realized that if I were there I would just end up being Gunther, always there but never included, and pining over the ever unattainable girl lol. But at least I would have some great tunes and some good coffee. I love coffee, just can't have as much as I used to. If you're a coffee junkie don't hate on me, but I occasionally drink some decaf in the evening. Used to be able to drink it all day and still zonk out within the hour of the last cup. Now I get a little 🤪 I like a lot of 90's country, but I also like a lot of the '00's through the early '10's. Somewhere in the mid-10's it started tanking hard. I blame that dweeb Sam Hunt. So this is gonna kill you, but somehow I don't know a lot about Stevie Ray Vaughn. Stop slapping the phone, I can't feel it lol. But you should totally link your fave SRV video so I can see it. Seems I've missed out cuz at present, I'm behind Hendrix. I actually think Brad Paisley's a pretty good picker too, but I'm a bit biased since he's one of my bro-crushes lol. Love his songwriting and think he'd be fun to grab a beer with. Who knows; it could happen. I am in Nashville right now.

Joey Fatone was sitting down in the club scene because two days prior to the video shoot, one of his legs was seriously injured during tour rehearsals when it was caught in a platform below stage ultimately exposing his lower leg bone. The shots of him dancing and singing was another performer with Joey’s face superimposed by computer.
