Billy I met my daughter when just after she turned 4. It was her mother's and my second date. 3 weeks later when she asked me if I would be her Daddy she stole my heart. I might not be her biological father but I am and always will be her Daddy.

My daughter's father didn't have much to do with her even though he lived less than 2 miles from her. As she grew up, he always had excuses why he couldn't meet up with her. I walked her down the aisle when she got married, crying the whole way. I was a mess because she had suffered so much growing up but had grown into a beautiful woman. Daddies are a necessary part of a girls life. No girl should have to grow up without one.

Me too. My biological dad passed away when I was 16, and now I've been blessed to have an adopted Daddy, that I still at 45 get excited to see him, talk to him or go for our Daddy/Daughter dates for lunch and chatting. I hadn't seen him in a little over 2 years bc I moved from Pa to TX and be drove me down. Now that I'm back home in Pa, I finally got to see him last Friday. As soon as he walked into the apartment my boyfriend and I have I started to cry. He's like, "I told Mommy that you would cry within a few minutes of walking in!" True to form ...I did!!

(Car Lile). This was my daughter's dance with her father song at her wedding, in 2005. I'd been a great mother of the bride until this song, and I then totally lost it. Ugly crying. He wasn't her bio-father, he was her step father, but he raised her. And he did a terrific job. It didn't matter at all we were in the last years of our break up, she was our daughter, and I am so grateful he was there to show her how fathers are supposed to be. We did divorce a few years later, and then he died of Agent Orange cancer. Didn't matter at all who was her baby daddy, he was her father. And I am grateful.

Love your reactions: Way to many to count but this one stood out due to your vets platform When my daughter graduated boot camp she gave me a plaque for being her father and posted this; What do you for the man who gave you everything? Who gave up everything in the world to show you true love? You give him the chance to be proud of who you are. You show him that sometimes giving it all up is really worth the turn over rate. Every day I wake up knowing I make this man proud and some day, he won't be around but every day I wake up and I thank the world for his presence every day. Number one dad, not just today but every day #daddy #familypride #armypride

I'm a father of three children two girls and a boy I've been away from my children for almost 4 years, since October 12th 2017 I have not seen my children in person. My son was a month and a half the last time I saw him he's almost four. I'm separated from my wife we've been married 9 years this song is one that I grew up with listening to as a child every time I hear it it brings back memories of my childhood but I often think about all of my children especially my girls. I hope to be a part of their lives someday be able to walk them down the aisle when they get married, thankfully I get to talk to them every other weekend exchange pictures with them but it's still not the same as it used to be. To any single parent out there that is going through what I've been going through I feel your pain and I understand.

I was introduced to this song MANY years ago when my daughter was about 4 years old. She's 26 now and I still get teary eyed every time I hear it. Still planning on it being played if/when she finally gets married. We've also talked about our Daddy / Daughter dance will be to Steven Curtis Chapman's Cinderella.

As an only child ( and daughter ) of the most wonderful father who ever lived, I want to let you know that after all the years have gone by, and since he left us, he is today and forever the very best man I ever knew in my life.

I’m not crying...you’re crying! I have a 6 yr old and 10 yr old and to say they are growing so fast and I’m proud of who they are becoming is understatement !

I love this song. Being a daddy's girl it took me over a year after my dad passed to be able to hear this song again. My dad was a Army Vet, a retired band director, and a foster parent to 59 children. It has now been 6 years since he has passed and I still struggle hearing this song.

My step daughter has been married for a year now. I raised her from the age of 2. Last night she stopped by just to hug me and kiss me on the cheek. So this song makes me tear up big time. So damn proud of the woman she has become.

I'm not a father or a mother. Not a parent at all but I'd like to give a shout out to fathers right now. I am the daughter of a very strong, loving, involved while I was growing up father and I'm a better person for it. I love my mother with my whole heart, but I AM my father's daughter. He is the person in this world I am the most like and father's don't get nearly enough credit. I am the woman I am today because of him and I remember the life lessons he taught me every single day. He is the ruler by which I measure all things in life. Thank God for fathers. You may know how much your daughters effect you, but from one father's daughter to all the fathers out there...you'll never truly know how profoundly your influence shapes us as women. My father, the veteran Marine, taught me strength, humility, humor, instilled in me a love of the arts, the importance of education, how a real gentleman behaves...everything. Hats off to all you Dads out there. You are truly doing God's work and your daughters notice.

My 3 year old daughter, 5 year old daughter & my wife, their mother who was 4 months pregnant were all senselessly killed in an accident. I played this song for my girls at the funeral & there wasn't a dry eye anywhere. every year I play this on my daughters birthdays & still, I cry like a baby, like I am now. What a beautiful song. Please, forgive their mistakes, love you loved ones unconditionally for when they're are taken from you, you loose them forever. This isn't a pleasant life to live in without the love of your loved ones.

So my Dad shared this song with me when I was 23. He said to me no matter where you are know I will give you a thousand butterfly kisses. I sure miss him. Another good song is Suds in the Bucket, becaise you have a daughter prepare for it. My two girls are gorgeous, strong and just amazing women. My son is handsome as ever my kids are my world. For most of their lives I was a single parent. Not getting married till my baby girl was 19.

You asked about fathers ' comments but I am giving the daughter's perspective. I am full on Daddy's girl. This song makes me tear up and my heart skip just as much. My "proud father" moment is straight from my Daddy. He wrote this to me on the day that I introduced him to my newborn. Renee' when I think back on my life it truly began the day that you were born. Not one day goes by that you don't do something that makes me proud and my heart full. There are all of the originals, first days of schools, dances, graduations, sporting events and the trophies that go along with them. The ones that I am thinking of today are the little ones. The time in first grade when you led a revolt because they were not going to allow the little downs syndrome child to be in the talent show. The time that you had your heart broken by a foolish boy and came to me with those big tears down your face asking me "why can't all boys be as perfect as you Daddy?" . The first time that you came to me and said that you had found someone special and though he was not as perfect as me he was almost as wonderful and you wanted my opinion. Today you brought a new little boy into this world and I know absolute that with you as his mommy, he is already more perfect and more wonderful than I have ever been. Billy, as a daughter, know that your ray of sunshine and hope sees you just as you see her. Daddys are everything to us daughters.
