Had Bilstein 5100's (all four corners) on my 2014 Chevy Silverado and LOVED them. Sold that truck and bought a new 2021 GMC Sierra AT4 (6.2L) with Ranchos. The Ranchos feel soft and weak and cause wheel hop over big bumps. Almost "uncontrolled" rear end jounce. Very unsettling IMHO. So, ordered new Bilstein 5100's for the rear...and might do the fronts later on. OBTW -- Bilstein is pronounced "Bill stine" not "Bill steen". Ask any German. Watch their commercials. We Americans screw their name up horribly. Thanks for doing a video on these shocks.

Thanks for doing the review. Very helpful. I was gonna go with the fox 2.0 but those are just way too expensive. I'm gonna go with the shocks that you have now.

I'm glad it was helpful to you. I've been very happy with them, and plan on getting a set for the front soon.

My left rear is bad on my 2011 f150. Now I'm wondering how long it's been bad lol. I noticed when I was installing a roadmaster active suspension

My truck had the 4600’s with 175k miles. It’s getting the 5100’s today. I hope they are good.

Do you like them better then than the 4600 looking for new shocks for my 17 ram 1500 5.7
@kyjelly5524
@kyjelly5524 2 жыл бұрын
@@--emt absolutely. However it isn’t a fair comparison. The 4600s had 170k miles on them and the 5100s are new. They are a huge difference the old ones were shot and felt like I was skipping through rough turns and bouncing a lot. The 5100s are great so far. My dad had some new stock shocks on his 08 4 runner and ended up with the 5100s because he got a winch and bumper and wanted something stiffer. According to him it’s great on the and he said his traction off road is much better. IDK. Neither of us do crazy rock crawling or anything but we hail ass through the desert”Reno” and hit some good hill climbs. My buddy put 5100s on an old Tacoma, new f150 and then got another old Tacoma he swears by them paired with some ko2 tires. So that’s what I got.

Are the 4600 noisy like the Rancho shocks

@@silverevans7763 I don’t have any experience with the ranchos. The 4600s didn’t seem noisy though.

The only difference between the Bilstein 4600 & 5100 shocks is that the 5100s are made for lifted vehicles and they are zinc coated. The internals and shock body diameter are exactly the same.

Never understood the bilstein color of shocks and is one reason I stayed away from them let alone price and most said stiffer ride which is the opposite of what I wanted. Went with Monroe mono shock for half the price and couldn’t be happier plus they don’t look like clown shocks lol. Yours look great but of course assuming there stiffer ride

Great review!! But, you do know Ford is the most overrated truck on the road, right? Even Dodge has surpassed them in quality and performance. My father n law retired from Ford (33years) and drives a Dodge. For me, I've had 3 Tacoma's and they are awesome! I will be going with some of these shocks thanks to your video.

This is my third Ford truck. I had a '94 Ranger, and a '98 F-150, both of which I put over 100K miles on, with very little problems. I got a really great deal on this truck used, which I why I got it. I will drive it until is falls apart, then shop for my next truck with an open mind and get what I believe is the best truck for the money, regardless of the brand. Thanks for watching my video.

Karaoke Kid every manufacturer has had issues with their vehicles- I can sit here and quote Toyota frame rust issues in the past, Dodge electrical issues with very poor crash tests, etc. Everyone has had recalls. The simple facts though are that Ford is the industry leader when it comes to truck innovation- they generally set the standard that all of the other manufacturers try to compete and catch up with 2-5+ years later in their development. It's very obvious in competition marketing that spins off of what Ford already did. I have no allegiance to any particular manufacturer and appreciate most of them for their niche benefits- Toyota is simple and reliable, GM has a great engine with the LS and reliable drivetrains, etc. Dodge is only just now starting to come around these past years; they have had a shaky history with trucks- but the Ram is a gorgeous truck and HEMIs are tough engines. Healthy competition between manufacturers is good- it gives us, the consumers, great options to choose from. If Ford was so bad it wouldn't be the top seller for as long as it has been- people drive them their entire lives and stand by it- plain and simple. For whatever reason, I always meet guys who pick another brand of truck (which there is no "wrong" decision there really) but then they act insecure and feel the need to bash on Ford because its widely accepted to be "the best"... I always laugh when I meet people like that.

Ok..let's be honest...go out for few days...see how many Fords...older ford you see on the road..compared to older rams...not many rams on the road anymore. Theres a reason for that. Yes..let's not talk the newer ones..those of every make are all over the road..they are still NEW...dodge is junk man

Nah. I like Rams, bit of the 5 people I know with Rams 09 and up, only one has made it to 200k with no major problems. Everyone else had major repairs by 70k. On my 3rd f150, 130k runs like new. I had this guy's exact truck and took it to 260k before selling it.
