Thank you for your effort. Between you and Makuloco I mustered up the courage and tore my truck apart this afternoon. I've actually pulled the complete dash in 3 different Towncars over the years so dash removal wasn't out of the question but the last Townie I did was a 2007 and 5 years of added complexity made pulling the dash seem like too much for this old guy. Plus it wasn't 100% clear to me how much further disassembly was required once the dash is out. It actually appears that its basically a full condenser replacement which is way worse than the Towncar which is bad enough to begin with. Something you didn't highlight - or if you did I missed it - is the fact that there appears to be a huge variety of designs for the airboxes on these trucks. The Lariat that Makuloco did appeared closer to what I was facing. On my truck there was simply no option to remove that back screw. There's actually a whole 2nd layer of vents above the Y-shaped tube and that completely obstructs any access from the driver side. After watching your video I had convinced myself that that back screw would be removable - I really didn't like Makuloco's solution of breaking the tab but that's exactly what I ended up doing. Once again, thanks for all the work putting that video together. I've done a few myself and they are a lot of work.

I used a Dorman for my mode actuator and had to replace it multiple times in just a couple years. Went back to oem and it’s lasted for a few years now. So I don’t trust the Dorman even with the warranty

This is pretty much the same setup I'm going to end up with and I think I will be very happy with it. I've been trying to decide which budget setup I wanted to go with for a few months and watched a lot of cheapaudioman. Once I managed to get the strdh190 and the sscs5 open box like new from Amazon for really good prices ($117 and $70) that decided it for me. I'm probably gonna rock with just those two for a bit, will add a cd/dvd player soonish and the turntable (most likely that same lp120 since prices have come back down to the $350 range) will be last since I have way more cds than vinyl. I'm gonna use that as my main setup in the living room and will probably have something smaller in my office for background music while I work or game.

Just found your channel. Glad to find content that I can relate to. I have the same Sony receiver and speakers with a Akai tape deck and an audio technica turntable. I see all these videos to where people have spent thousands upon thousands of dollars trying to achieve the perfect sound. And if that’s their thing that’s okay but I am very happy with much less. I don’t have a big collection of vinyl just what I really enjoy listening to. I do have many cassettes and CDs. Thanks for sharing this video!

Helpful video. I don't use the floor vents, so what I've decided to do is to cut up the ducting on the passenger side floor ducting to get to this actuator. I think cutting that ducting out will give enough room to get to the bolts and change this part out.

that cartridge is very good and the 2Mred is horrible the blue is still much worst than that but if wanting to upgrade i would try the MP-300 from nagaoka or keep that ,ortofon was good till early 90´s only

what ?in my country it dropped i can buy one for 300€ or less depending on where to buy it and yes ,if you spend 1500€in a pro-ject it will sound like 10% of that one

i remenber conecting to my receiver a sony smi-portable cd player ,there weren´t any standart size for sale but i was admired it sounded louder and no noise but than ,this being a person that enjoys a lot rock music i was hearing the guitars very in the back and i thought this must be the player it´s the first sony released but no even today it´s a steal ,i never left my records or turntables but i have a lot of 90´s and more recent cds that sound ok, compared to records i had in early 70´s,who sound xpectacular like a live band playing in your room
@RUfromthe40s4 ай бұрын
i have to tell you a important fact ,all modern turntables and cartridges comparisons on youtube aren´t real they sound as bad as i have never heard ,you put a iphone and sound as good as a 6.000€ turntable or a 1.000€ turntable that in reality sounds so bad that i can´t think of a 70´s, 80´s, 90´s turntable that had such a bad sound

If this was my setup and I was looking to upgrade... a pair of Steel speaker stands would have to be it. As well as the boundary interference of nearby walls, which stifles the sound stage. Flexibility of speaker positioning takes the listening experience to the next level. The perceived perception of vocals coming from between, in front and behind, of the actual speakers can only be achieved by experimenting with speaker positioning. Enjoyable video, btw. Cheers

Very informative thank you. I do have a couple questions 😊 I have an older but still good pair of JBL LX300 and do you think the Sonys would be an up or a downgrade? And I have the strdh190 also. I was wondering if you found the receivers phono preamplifier or the turntables preamplifier superior? I thank you again.

You like Huey Lewis and The News? Their early work was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor. In '87, Huey released this, Fore, their most accomplished album. I think their undisputed masterpiece is "Hip to be Square", a song so catchy, most people probably don't listen to the lyrics. But they should, because it's not just about the pleasures of conformity, and the importance of trends, it's also a personal statement about the band itself.

Thank you so much. I have a 2012 XLT Eco and I had the transmission clunk. I brought it in to the dealer and they looked at me like I was crazy. But I had done my KZfaq homework and I told them how to lube it. It is mostly quiet but it still clunks about once a week. I have 120K and really no other major or minor issues. I change oil myself at 4000. Everyone else makes a mess with changing that filter.
