Did the snow stop blowing because of a loose auger belt? Biltema manual tells how to change this belt but it can also be tightened before replacing. The original belt will stretch alot if it gets stuck. This method uses 13mm socket and 10mm socket(fyi. Shear pins also use 10mm socket).

Today I fitted new idler kit provided on warranty by Biltema. During disassembly I discovered why the old idlers could not align properly: The two bolts on right edge of the idler bracket was stripped. This must have happened during assembly and would explain why the entire idler assembly was skewed. What was more funny was the new idler assembly came pre-assembled but with bracket upside down. The 3 holes were thus not aligning and the arms could not swing the way they needed to. Quick rebuild of the spare part and it was identical to the old one and it fit perfectly. Now the belt rides nicely in middle of the idler pully.

I also fitted a new tilt-wire and pump today. The old pump had stopped locking and would allow movement all the time. The button would slip on the wire-ball and also fail to actuate the plunger on the cylinder. I greased up the new ones well to see if I can eliminate water getting into the cable and locking it up this time.

my pump has started freezing after these -30 C weeks, I heat it to make it move at all, after that it works fine until freezes again

@@entieda8409 The first stage of the blower section has a tendency to freeze for me too. I make sure to blow any snow clear before stowing the machine and place it tilted forward instead of back allowing any melting to run out.

i broke the button of the gas pump now when I fought it free when frozen. I will open it up to see what it does and can it be fixed

Make sure to use a wireguide luber (like for bikes) and squeeze in some grease on the entry to all the wireguides or they will freeze up easily. Especially the level-adjuster. Add grease on both ends of that as it points upwards at the gas cylinder and fills with water. (Bad design there unfortunately...)

@@1kreatureGreat advice, I'll makes sure too look into that. Just tighten 10 bolts and fixed a few thing, 2 hours plowing and 5 hours purchase, fixing it, reclamation and so on...

@@MutsFire Also verify that none of the wireguides are positioned wrong. On mine the muffler or exhaust was pressing on one of the guides that was not positioned right. The switches for the electrics are also very bad, and water will collect in them causing them to corrode immediately. I had to open mine up and clean them, then I filled them with grease to avoid water getting in again.

@@MutsFire I also identified the rubber grommets for the cableguides for belt and drive entering the casing was hanging on the middle of my wireguides. NOT installed at the entry at all. Had to pop off the shield on side of motor and pass them along the guides and onto the correct positions.

@@1kreaturethe design problem I've had problems with is that snow always melts to the bottom of the turning neck of the throwing mechanism, and then freezes. And then the electric turning can't move and I have to fight it free.

On mine the thrower belt was riding on the very front of the idler causing wear on the edge of the belt. The arm holding the idler seems bent towards the engine more than yours. I've requested idler replacement kit which includes new arm but it will not be fun to install...

How old is yours ? Maybe it should go on the "garanti"?

@@MutsFire Mine is from January 2023 and I am getting new parts on warranty but I will install myself as moving 145kg is not safe and a big job... My gas spring also broke so now the tilt mechanism is always "loose".

Biltema in Finland has now stopped selling this model(sells only the smaller models). All the spare parts also disappeared from their web site. My model was pre-assembled showcase item and I only had to adjust brakes, otherwise it has worked. 2 shear bolts have broken in 3 winters and the auger bolt must soon be changed.
