Good video Kieron, Hebden got famous and popular because of a advert for the new town of Milton Keynes. The advert showed a picture of the brand new sparkling Milton Keynes and said why don't you come and live here, or you could live in this run down mill town of Hebden, with a picture showing an old derelict factory, taken in the rain. People started to look at Hebden and the house prices and they packed their pink pants and flowery shirts and moved up north.

If you enjoy a pint try the Fox and Goose, a community pub noted for its pristine ales, situated at the junction of the A646 (King Street) and Heptonstall Road. Just up the road to Heptonstall is (what was) a council estate built just after Word War 2. The houses were built from stone reclaimed from the Duke of Bridgewater's Worsley New Hall. Regards.

Great Bimble Kieron, My good friend and meself have been Bimbling for many years, one day in the week we would choose somewhere interesting to go by public transport and visit! we have been to Hebden Bridge , Howarth ( Kighley and Worth Valley Railway ) and Todmorden, interesting thing about Tod is that it used to be half in Yorkshire and half in Lancashire, I believe the Boundary used to go through the centre of the Town Hall! I often wondered in the past if it caused problems for the different county authorities! still Yorkshire eventuall claimed all of it..

Loved the video Kieran, don't know if you watched the Gallows Pole on BBC, this was about the Cragg Vale coiners. Their leader David Hartley was hung at the Tyburn in York and his body was buried in the original St Thomas's grave yard, not alot of people know that :).

Came from Warrington it involved 6 trains and a 12 hour day and 47 miles but loved every moment Kieran. The great thing about these rides is that the canals are always in very close proximity to the railway stations. Every train was on time.

Awesome Bimble. Always loved the look of that part of england. Juliet Bravo of th eighties filmed in these locations on occasions. Worked with a lad from toddy years ago. Also shed your tears and walk away was filmed here. A rather deppressing documentary about drink/drugs and suicide. 🚲🍮

Sorry but some of your info is wrong. The Highest ,longest and deepest canal tunnel in England is the Standege tunnel on the Huddersfield narrow canal, other than that a very informative video 👏👏👏

Hi Kieran...didn't know you liked poetry. Here is a poem what I wrote to explain my name.....hope you appreciate it... "Viaductophile" I'm a chronic viaductophile. I just can't get enough of that feeling, When i see a gulf spanned with brutal elegance, Embankment as foreplay, Enmeshed in the dance of the landscape, Created to carry the weight of the world wherever it needs to go, Passengers and freight, And post that cannot wait, So span the river, Cross the gorge, The iron works, the mine, the forge need linking to the town, And railways can't go up and down too well, you see, So now my Higher Power is Brunel! And I dribble at the Ribblehead and swoon at Miller's Dale, Sankey Valley gets me all worked up and the Forth Bridge cannot fail To drop the jaw, In deepest awe..... They just don't make 'em like that anymore! So now my browsing history is littered with bridges and tunnels and cuts, I need to put it all in perspective..... I know I'm a viaductophile,but, If this isn't love Why does it feel so good?

Not sure about the nonsensical apparent route around Heptonstall, or the old church being "just around the corner" when the two churches share the same graveyard. Should also mention that you captured the grave of Les Prior, who was the front man of Alberto Y Los Trios Paranoias, and a friend of mine.
@BimblismUK
@BimblismUK Ай бұрын
I'm not sure what you were expecting from me saying "just around the corner". From where I was stood in front of the new church the old church is around the corner. I literally walked around the corner on film.

@@BimblismUK Errmm, you filmed a shot of St. Thomas the Apostle from the northern side, which means that St. Thomas a'Beckett (the old church, and still consecrated) was directly behind you. It doesn't seem to make a lot of sense to move away from the old church and then present reaching it as requiring a (short) journey. I do appreciate your editing the video to perhaps make it more visually appealing, but the route you appear to take is utter nonsense to anyone who knows Heptonstall well.

@@BimblismUK Oh, it's definitely entertaining - full marks for that - but it will be watched by people who know Heptonstall and they'll smirk. I don't need a map - I was born and raised there. I know every nook and cranny, every stone and every tree, and sadly, far too many of those in the graveyard.
