@@Daisy-kg4ho Wait, you're saying it isn't sad then you're saying it is sad, terrible, and gross. OP said that they are glad this story isn't like most ED stories that are depressing. But this story is probably even more depressing if anything, not only is she a bulimic but she's an alcoholic. And then on top of being those two things she denies her disorder and CONTINUES to binge/purge in any place she can. She ruined her own life by messing up her relationship with her friend/business partner AND slept with her friend's mother-in-law to be('s?) boyfriend and SAID it and was also drunk at said event..ruining yet another thing her friend trusted she wouldn't fuck up. She was late to work probably wasn't the first time, and if she had worked elsewhere she would've been fired. And then she has no self respect. If none of this is depressing/sad/terrible then idk what is.
@Daisy-kg4ho5 жыл бұрын
Tiny Mayo And I’m saying it isn’t sad to the people who actually go through it. We’ll snap sometimes but it’s our usual, it’s all we know and most of the time we don’t care until it gets too the extreme. This film isn’t dramatic and sad 24/7 like a lot depict it as, which is why this is more realistic.

Maybe nothing in this video really disgusted me because I've been on the on the ground with vomit on my hands still sticking my fingers down my throat after touching the nasty floor and toilet bowl. I've sat in a bathtub surrounded and covered by my own vomit and my only concern was getting more out before someone heard or came to check on me. I've puked into my own hand to then place it in the toilet so no one would hear the splash. I've had dirty toilet bowl water splashed into my face because I didn't want anyone asking why I flushed so many times so I'd just puke into water I'd just taken a shit in. I've even peed my pants from the force of it and just kept going lol. Bulimia isn't hygienic. It's not dainty or fragile or considerate of your OCD. Bulimia is... this. I wish I could've watched this and been more grossed out by the lack of hygiene but I didn't even catch it. I just kept seeing myself over and over and over. I really hope more episodes will be produced because words can't explain how important this was to me and many, many others I'm sure.

this. raw honesty. I've been in the bathtub surrounded by my vomit, I've reached down into toilets with my hands to unblock them before they'd flood the bathroom, because it wouldn't flush everything I puked into it, I puked into my hands just as you said, same for the water splashing into my face. I puked into bottles just so I wouldn't have to use the toilet as often, even into milk cartons that then exploded in my wardrobe where I kept them hidden until I could 'take out the trash' (which you can't do three times a day). I hope I'll be able to leave this behind me at some point.
@magnoliaalba66886 жыл бұрын
Honestly, thank you for sharing the realities of the disorder because it helped myself and others know that we're not alone. I could definitely relate to having moments like you've described. I've had moments of accidentally missing the toilet and throwing up on my feet(and shoes) from the sheer panic of needing to get rid of food, nosebleeds from purging and I even remember finding a gone off tub of vomit in my room because I couldn't get rid of it in time. Eventually, when I'd found it, I was cleaning my room because my cousin was coming to stay and it had turned into mold. I think that was the last time that I purged in my room but you know I was so so desperate at the time, I'd do it in my room if I could do it in the bathroom because my mother was well aware of what I was doing so I thought that it was one way of beating her to it.

Nice to see representation for eating disorders that isn't an emaciated teen girl. Because ALL eating disorders are serious, not just anorexia. Only 1 in 10 people with an eating disorder are underweight so this is really refreshing.

This is so real and hits home tomorrow. The way she goes from eating anything to the stark realization of what she had just eaten. The lack of hygiene that is overwhelmed with the desire to get it out. I’ve had shit water splash on my face only to keep going. I’ve puked while showering and then told my mom it was because my stomach hurt. I’ve stirred the toilet water to see how much came out, not to mention reached in to the bottom to see if I had gotten out what I actually wanted out. I’ve tried to while driving to blame it on stomach bug. Trying to hide it in plain sight. Bulimia isn’t gently emptying your stomach or wanting to be thin and a single finger going into your mouth. It’s desperation to be empty after feeling like you’ve lost control. It’s vomiting to prevent weight gain and shitting your brains out over overdosing on laxatives. It’s fisting yourself and choking more times than vomiting. Hygiene comes much later than fear on priorities. It’s eating and missing when you could simply deny yourself the urge. It isn’t pretty. It’s being desperate to undo what you’ve done thinking it’s a bad thing.
@melaniequai15044 жыл бұрын
Sarah I like that they show the binging and the maintaining the same weight. Everyone knows what anorexia is nowadays but so many ppl (including me for a while) think that bulimia is just like anorexia except u purge ur food..when that’s not what it is. Purging every calorie u eat and barely eating anything is just a form of anorexia.
@andymorgo66944 жыл бұрын
I can relate this so much, the nasty things don't even come to your head, all you want is make sure that you are not gonna gain any weight, that the food that you eat is all out and i even remember myself passing my own vomit from the sink to the toilet with my hands on a desperate way to making it away Bulimia make you do lot of nasty things but non of them really care when all that you have in mind is stay in control

@@Leannatayloracrobat9 that is true, but it is also true that her friend knew about her problem and instead of telling her or at the very least understanding her she just was like "oh you keep doing that? Well don't it's gross". She made some bad things, but just plainly ignoring your friends eating disorder and after seeing them in a really bad shape is-like anyone could see she was 2 steps away from fainting-and just talk about your life is ruined and that is all she's good for is...unforgivable. Besides let's not forget how she literally shamed her friend for eating something and told her "are you going to keepshoving that down your face" which in a normal context of normal friends could even be funny, you know she isn't supposed to eat it because it's for the cake and bla bla bla; but it is not a normal context and her friend knows it, and as someone who has a really close cousin that dealt with anorexia and bulimia, and as someone who herself has lived with an eating disorder I can 100% Ray that you can't just go and say those types of things, you have to be careful what you say about food. I have a binging problem. I don’t purge afterwards so people don’t see it as an eating disorder. People just see it as being a fat ass. I used to be thin. Idk if it was medications or stress but I started gaining weight. And that’s when I started binging. I felt sorry for myself for gaining weight and started eating my feelings. I’m a chef. A baker. I love cooking and working in the kitchen. Because I associate feeling full with feeling happy. I work out regularly and don’t eat out. And lately I’ve been cutting carbs. But I’m still not losing weight. I’m still not thin. I’m trying so hard but nothing is working. I’ve honestly considered being bulimic. It seems like a simple answer to my problem but I’m not wanting to do this to myself. To ruin my family. But I’m tired being a chubby wife next to my thin and muscular husband.

Mrs M A E If you want to lose weight you have to be in a calorie deficit. Doesn’t matter if you cut out carbs or sugar or whatever. YOU HAVE TO BE IN A CALORIE DEFICIT and in order for that to happen you have to start counting your calories. If you have BED that will be an impossible thing to do because you’re always eating waaay too much. If you want to feel better about yourself and be in a healthy relationship with food so you can lose weight you really have to get help. Wish you all the best.

I’m fairly active, but I’m also chronically ill which makes exercise near impossible. Idk what to do anymore. Maybe I’ll talk to my doc, 😐

@@IAmNotYourProblem thats because your body has gotten used to living way beneath your calorie deficit. You need to gradually up your calories, by 100 each two weeks or something and eventually you will hit 2000 or whatever your maintain actually is. Then you can start (if you want) to be on a deficit again. Workout more, or do that and eventually you will start losing weight. It takes a long time, remember that. Trust in the process. I used to do that, then i became bulimic because i went over my calories by going out drinking with friends. I was obsessed with the numbers. My opinion is, if you can do it in a healthy wayy, it will be very good for you and your body. I am trying to do that right now, being on 1800 cals, working out, im sometimes goin over them, but it fine. It's a journey. You can't lose weight every week and thats fine. Good luck 💜

The thing I hate about bulimia is that, a lot of the time, I don’t even plan on purging while before or while I’m eating, but once I’m done it’s impossible for me not to. Like if I don’t, I am left feeling miserable and guilty for the rest of the day. I need to get rid of that full feeling in my stomach. And even after purging I have no self control whatsoever, so most of the time I’ll start eating again right after. Bulimia: no major weight loss, but still all the fun side effects of an eating disorder
@spiceman1191 Жыл бұрын
Really, this is exactly my experience. Sometimes I plan my binges and other times it just happens spontaneously - even if I don't have any good food at home. I just end up eating blocks of cheese, flavorless cornflakes, bread or drinking packs of milk. Purge and repeat, my head hurts so much at times that I can't even manage to purge the second time.

When I first watched this I never had purged, never had binged, and didn’t really have an eating disorder and didn’t think that’s what eating disorder treatment was like but honestly the whole “Not skinny? Bulimia” is such a spot on thing in mental health treatment and I can relate to the self-destructive behaviors and the binge purge cycle so much. I’ve changed so much from when this first came out and it’s so crazy that I went from sorta relating to completely understanding and relating to every piece of this masterpiece I love it so much.

What don’t people like about that movie? I’m honestly wondering. I’ve seen it but I don’t have anorexia or bullimia. Was it unrealistic?

@@nataliafan14 it romanticizes anorexia. It doesn’t show the struggle, because anorexic are constantly hungry. We always want to eat. It in general was a shit movie

I love this. I didn't think it was possible to make a series about something as heavy as an ED funny, but you managed to bring some humor into the darkness, which is an art.

This is actually incredibly good, the cinematography and the distinct feel that the show has is phenomenal. I hope they haven't given up on it, because this feels authentic.

Why is this not an entire series?? This needs to be a thing like, yesterday. The main character is charming, yet despicable in the same way we all are. it is desperately honest, yet insanely entertaining. We ALL need this to be like a seven season show. Please. As a closet train wreck, I NEED this to be a thing.
