Please, more Seinfeld. Season 1 and 2 have some good episodes but they haven’t quite gotten on to the Seinfeld formula all way at that point. Season 3 they really start to nail it and then season 4-7 are stellar with season 4 being, imo, the closest any sitcom has come to perfection with only 2 episodes that aren’t an A yet still funny.

@@richlisola1 "No hugging, no learning" is a golden rule created by Larry David. I've got all Seinfeld seasons in a big DVD boxset with bonus material. Besides the four main characters there are other great characters like Newman, Frank Costanza, and various bosses that Elaine and George worked with. I can't stand "Friends", it's too cheesy for my taste.

Something to keep in mind is that “Season 1” actually comprised a pilot episode aired in summer 1989 that didn’t get picked up, then four more episodes that aired in summer 1990 that finally sold the show, which is why Elaine wasn’t in the pilot episode, and Jerry’s father was played by a different actor. The first actual season, “Season 2,” began in January 1991.

That's true for so many things, but particularly with a lot of comedy (and romantic comedy) in the 80's and 90's, where the humor revolves around missed connections or an inability to communicate, or a message somehow getting lost along the way. On a different note, I've always kind of thought that Goldeneye should have been the final James Bond film. Aside from the fall of the Soviet Union, James Bond just doesn't really work in the age of smart phones and the internet, which is why they had to reimagine him in the Daniel Craig era as more of a Jason Bourne type action hero. Having to bring a bunch of cool spy gadgets to exotic locations to do spy stuff just doesn't make sense anymore when an iPhone can do half the stuff his gadgets can, and basically all information is online anyway and can be accessed from anywhere on the planet.

I was working in a regional theater in the late 80's/early 90's. We had two comics do a father's day show. They sold about 1,200 of the 1,800 capacity. One comic I recognized from Aliens and Beverly Hills Cop. The other I had never heard of before. They were going to come back the next year but the better known comic got a tv show. That comic was Paul Reiser and he got Mad About You with Helen Hunt. The other comic was going to come but I got a call from his manager and had to send it up to our general manager. That comic got a pilot and had them reschedule to later in the year. That show got cancelled as well when the show got picked up and Seinfeld was born. If we had Paul Reiser and Jerry Seinfeld do a show a year later they would have sold out an entire week.

Superman definitely has a sense of humor, he just doesn't show it. It's more that he amuses himself and he does that a lot. He is mostly self-deprecating, but he will ham it up when the mood strikes him and he's not above pretending to be egotistical or vain to get a laugh. He also really likes Dad Jokes. Here's one he said recently to Wonder Woman. He got their drinks at a Intergalactic Starbucks style coffee house and written on the cup he gave Wondy was "Supperman" and she frowned, "Supperman?" He took a pull on his straw and said, "Yeah... you know, it wasn't until I was in High School that I learned that I had the power to sup?" Wondy replied "What's sup?" Supes grinned, "Nothin' much, what's up with you?" Paraphrased from same comic and he and Wondy were in a movie theater after the coffee house and he says, "We'll take our empty cups back to Batman." Wondy replied, "Why?" Superman grinned again, "You know how much he likes just-ICE."

Yes, I agree with you, many TV shows evolve away from their original pilots. For example, Bewitched, Samantha and Darrin had a menorah at the beginning, and it disappeared later. With Seinfeld, what I noticed was Kramer became less odd, and more smooth and friendly. Plus he developed his unique way of entering Jerry's apartment. As for George, I think he seems to be channeling Woody Allen in the first few episodes, but later he looses Woody, and he channels Larry David, the producer/writer of many episodes.

Season 1 is kind of a learn as you go thing for the writers and actors Kramer was originally portrayed as a person who hadn't left the building in years, there was no Eilane in early episodes, they had a different actor playing Jerrys' father, etc. That said it's still a must watch season.

Hey, Jen! Important to note that _Seinfeld_ was created by Larry David and Jerry. But it was really Larry David who was the creative genius behind the show, not so much Jerry. Larry was the showrunner and head writer (basically the equivalent of a film director, but for a TV show). So, after _Seinfeld,_ you NEED to watch _Curb Your Enthusiasm_ next, which was also created by Larry David and it also stars Larry as himself. _Curb_ is basically just rated-R _Seinfeld._ And also since George from _Seinfeld_ is based on Larry David's personality, _Curb_ is pretty much George Costanza the TV show. Larry is a comedy legend (more so than Jerry). But also, it'd be great if you watched some clips of Larry David now (and get to know his iconic voice) because Larry makes many, many cameos on _Seinfeld_ (either on screen or just his voice) and it would be really fun for us _Seinfeld_ fans if you were able to recognize Larry's cameos as the show progresses. Just a suggestion.🙂

Yes, what you've written about Larry David, the Seinfeld show, and Curb is all true and I agree. But on Curb, Larry plays a heightened version of himself. The character is called Larry David, is played by Larry David, but it's not exactly Larry David. Can we agree on that?

@@kevinlewallen4778 Yea, I know. As he calls it a _"fictionalized version of himself"_ just like Jerry's character on _Seinfeld._ I just didn't feel like mentioning it since my comment was long enough as is.😄

When I started working there was an older guy who loved Seinfeld, I liked the show but didn't really get his obsession. The funny thing about it is that it really becomes funnier when you're older and can relate to what they're joking about, it just improves as you age!

Oh my gosh, excellent! Seinfeld! If you watch the whole series, I'll be totally here for it. And the show gets funnier and funnier with each season. I love that you notice all the music. That will also keep you entertained. As for opera telecast innovations and robot butchers, I'm not sold. Btw Brian Regan is another comedian who works clean and is hilarious. (Very different style from Jerry Seinfeld, but equally funny.)

Really love this show. Gives me that nice 90s nostalgia buzz. Was so sad when it ended in '98 and all I had was _Friends_ until it ended when I was in college. It is cool to see Seinfeld doing standup today because he works in all the quirks and absurdities of modern culture and technology which sort of feels like the show has come back but been updated with all the things that have changed since the 90s.

George's father is played by the late Jerry Stiller, Ben's father, who used to have a standup comedy duo with his wife, Anne Meara. Now that you are getting used to Seinfeld's voice, check out Jimmy Fallon's impression of him (eg. his SNL audition tape).

OMG, this was one of my favorite shows during my SECOND childhood - (we were having more fun than humans should be allowed to have). Season 1 gets off to a slow start as characters develop (typical). Season 1 episode 1 actually had the added words 'The' and 'Chronicles' in the title. It will become evident, shortly, all the group's problems, individually and corporately, usually stem from telling lies (and the related cover-ups)! First three seasons are Lukewarm, by comparison. Season 4 they hit the Nielsen Ratings top 30, and start garnering awards like an Emmy, Golden Globe, SAG, and even a Peabody.

I never watched Seinfeld until I was 17 in 2012, lol; I do remember a joke in the cartoon Fairly Odd Parents, Cosmo is on TV doing standup & says "it's a show about nothing...how do we know when it's over?" Person watching the TV; "I DO!" **flips the channel** Lmao
