even before I watched this show, every time I visited Japan I would get coffee jelly at the supermarket near my grandparents' house. I haven't visited them in almost two years now :( here in the US, I did get cubes of coffee jelly in a boba drink once but it's not quite the same

Tips from a Japanese fan: Agar is nice when you want make something with a hard texture, but for coffee jello, gelatin will work better since the coffee will slightly melt when you put it in your mouth. Plus, Kopi Luwak is good coffee, but consider trying the Panama Geisha. It has more complex aroma and flavor, with a similar price tag; although this part of advise has nothing to with me being Japanese. Great video, nonetheless.

And if you think that kopi luwak is cheaper in Indonesia, you are partly right. But still tho it's still relatively pricey for Indonesians. And no I'm not counting that brand that has Luwak in the name, that one is only brand name, it's not real kopi luwak. Also some Indonesian think that drinking grounded poop from an animal is disgusting. But still, someday I'm gonna try it, only because my curiosity is draining my soul

That super expensive coffee you got almost sounds a bit like the coffee equivalent of filet mignon. Very tender, very smooth, no bitterness or toughness, but also very little flavour or character or really anything to define the dish or drink respectively. Also big respect for pointing out the elephant in the room regarding that coffee, I got to be honest, I tensed up a little when I saw you mention it so I'm glad you talked about it briefly. It's hilarious to me that, as a child, the pour-over method of coffee making was what we used when the power went out or the coffee maker broke. It was considered the 'cheap and dirty' method back then. Now it's all fancy. And yes, I own one of those blown glass makers. lol!
