Dr. Mike, you should be spearheading conferences worldwide about teaching techniques and making complex topics digestible. You are unquestionably gifted to reduce the insanity that some textbooks promote. I now speak in class with such confidence that others marvel at my intellectual capacity. All thanks to the master teacher!!

love your lectures, watch them all the time. There were a few inconsistencies between the spinal levels in the video and what I'm being taught in my course, and wanted to check them. So we've been taught these sympathetic nerves and spinal levels: -Greater splanchnic (T5-T9) -Lesser splanchnic (T10 and T11) -Least splanchnic (T12) -Lumbar splanchnic (L1-L3) Are the levels and separations variable? I know that can be the case with a fair number of structures in anatomy. Thanks for the videos, keep it up, they are awesome!

Thanks doctor I was always wondering why skeletal muscle where not included in the Autonomic Nervois System cause we always talk about heart rate etc. but never about what muscles do in fight flight or in relax condition This was what missing on my mind mapping these nervous systems( obviously ANS is unconscious and involuntary movements excellent teaching ) Definitely gonna watch your videos Subscribed🥰🥰🥰🥰

In pain syndromes… and I believe Autism is a pain syndrome… the individual will do a motor driven “stim” in an attempt to regulate the pain signal originating from soma or visceral signaling. Keep in mind we tend to rub the pain area… this is a motor stim to calm the soma or visceral signal of pain. This is considered a “normal” response to pain… along with crying and screaming “like a little girl”. Yet when society stifles the “normal” response of crying and screaming… and maybe even “rubbing” to self soothe and release the pain “energy” radiating throughout the body and brain… then one might develop “abnormal” stims to self regulate and these may appear as “anxiety”, “adhd” nervousness and increase in emotional energy expression or depression… the shutdown of emotional or physical response, lacking responsiveness, motivation, laziness, inertia. So often what is labeled “autism” or “adhd” or both is being stuck in one or the other response of a self attempting to self regulate a body and brains overstimulated central nervous system to meet demand by governing outside regulators such as family, friends, educators, society to what is deemed appropriate responses to “pain” not recognizing what is a normal pain response and labeling it as “inappropriate” to the pain. We are not able to be inside an individuals body and brain to feel their pain and know what is an appropriate response and to know what is appropriate and the most effective way to self soothe when no other pain remedy or relief is available or being offered. Maybe the next time you come across an Autistic person exhibiting an unusual behavior or a meltdown or shutdown know it is their way of self soothing and processing and releasing their pain. What pain? There may be so much pain they can’t identify the individual source. Many people diagnosed Autism have an undiagnosed hyper mobile connective tissue disorder that produces significant pain throughout the entire body and organs yet it isn’t recognized. Constant unrelenting pain with activities and environment elements increasing this or decreasing the pain. The degree of autism is based on the degree of pain. The signs and symptoms and behaviors are a compensation for pain in someone with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, a painful connective tissue disorder that is not rare but rarely diagnosed and it’s being called “Autism” and treated as a social Aberrant neurological disorder well actually it’s a body pain disorder that’s impacting the neurology. This teaching explains exactly how that signaling of pain and threat can manifest that dynamic. I hope this TLTR comment enlightens someone and helps them find a path to help and remedies for their pain.

a neurotransmitter of a sympathetic system is: 1. Acetyl choline 2. Noradrenaline 3. Gaba 4. Glutamate Is it 1 right ?

Am I right with the following somehow pessimistic thought? The only thing a person directly controls is his skeletal muscle and maybe to some extent his thoughts. Don't really know about the second one. But if I exclude it, anyway. Then may I conclude that basically, the only thing every human can consciously do is just to decide when to contract which of his skeletal muscles and when not? Not even all his muscles, just the skeletal ones. And on top of it, almost all of our motion is done automatically, we barely apply consciously our sole conscious ability and still, we somehow are able to do a great impact by it. Or at least it seems so and we think so.
