Hey, wait a minute. In the second story about the North Pole, is the PoV character really trying to tell us that he saw the silhouette of the thing outside the tent...by using a flashlight _inside_ the tent, without exiting said tent? At absolute _best,_ that would have cast the silhouette onto the _other_ tent, and not been visible to the PoV Also, how could the thing outside not have noticed the light at all, when it'd be pretty dang noticable with it being night? Especially if it was bright enough to cast a silhouette
@wayward.philosopher7 ай бұрын
Yeah, he also described how the thing was huge and way bigger than a polar and then proceeds to give the dimensions of a polar bear when it stands on its hind legs... definitely a work of fiction by someone who isn't even a biologist.. but it was entertaining enough, I suppose 😂
@orbweaver97506 ай бұрын
There are a lot of inaccuracies in that story that make the suspension of disbelief difficult. I am choosing to believe that the author is a kid that has some talent for creative writing but didn't bother to do some basic research in order to add some believability to their story.
@Servellion6 ай бұрын
@@wayward.philosopher "it's just a polar bear." Said noone who's inside a damn tent. Don't worry guys, it's just a known maneater. Let's dismiss this fucking apex predator that's likely hunted us down and go back to sleep.
@wayward.philosopher6 ай бұрын
@Servellion I didn't say they should ignore it!!! Polar bears ARE f@ck!ng scary precisely because they are so big and aggressive! I didn't spell that out because I thought everyone knew how scary and dangerous polar bears are. Point is, this author was trying to sound impressive and say something was WAY bigger than an already terrifying polar bear while then going on to give exactly the dimensions of a polar bear. It's really lazy make-believe. If someone is going to say a fictional story really happened, they could try a little harder. Actually, they could try a LOT harder. It was a sh!t story. And you're not as clever as you think you are for trying to stick it to me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yeah it was very well written and on point if you ever worked in a nursing home, and also depressing at the same time. You do start to build relationships with some of the residents and often wonder how they ended up there. For some it's very clear why, but for most it's as if their families just dumped them off and ran. It points to the rapid pace or hustle and bustle of American culture. Everyone becomes so wrapped up with the neverending rat-race of their own lives that even if they wanted to take care of their elderly there's just not enough time in the day. It also takes a special type of person to be able to stick with a job like that. Once you get to know someone and become a part of their daily routine you also become like an extended family member. I'm glad there's more focus on home care agencies now rather than more nursing homes being built. There's more options for them now instead of being dumped off in places like that.

Story 2 in particular. ✅ Remote station in NP. ✅ Main character separates from group and sees monster, but not in good light. ✅ Friends save OP just in time. ✅ 1 guy HAS to finish the work to keep bosses happy. Plus they are stuck there anyway. ✅Attack at night, but only as a jump scare. ✅ OP breaks leg and he might die from it. ✅ The emergency helicopter is too small. Just cliche after cliche
