Bionicle Lore Explained: Artakha

In today's episode of Bionicle Lore Explained, we'll be exploring the story of Artakha, who just recently had his canon appearance decided in the Artakha Canonization Contest. From his battle against Karzanhi to claim the Mask of Creation to the Raid on Artakha by the Brotherhood of Makuta, this is all the lore you need to know about Artakha! I hope you enjoyed this video and maybe even learned something new about the Bionicle Universe!

Would love to hear some theories on the origin of protodermis. Not so much where it came from but HOW and WHAT. I've always figured it was the end result of a species that gray gooed themselves.

It could also be the "blood" of the Great Spirit Robot, or perhaps its a byproduct of the Mask of Creation? Just blindly guessing, of course.

@@574guy Protodermis predates Mata Nui by several centuries, and was found in the core of the planet Spherus Magna. The reason it broke off into Bara Magna, Aqua Magna, and Bota Magna is because a massive war was fought over the stuff, which destabilized the original planet. Mata Nui was constructed specifically to find a way to fix the damage, and on his return trip Makuta took over.

What fascinates me is the fact that the Mask of Creation and Mask of Time act as potential Bridges between both Bionicle generations. While never serviced with official canon, they were fodder for fan speculation. Just pointing out that Generation 2's mask of time was only the "top half," or that both Masks of Creation has angular eye holes and are adorned with ancient runes is enough to keep us theorizing. Even now I can't help but to wonder where Generation 2 would have explored these masks if they were granted more waves to flesh out the story. I had a theory once that the Vahi originated as a single mask, but fearing such immense power, after the Mask of Life, that the Great Spirits decided to make schematics the mask in two parts and hide each half of the schematics to separate locations. I said schematics here because Teridax and Vakama both knew of the Mask and recognized it's appearance before it was officially formed (leading me to believe they knew of the Vahi as a schematic, not as a prior existing mask). And Ekimu just sounds like a Gen. 2 Artakha. I also speculated that perhaps the Toa's trip to Okoto may have been a part of their training exercises, like a neighboring island to Daxia, or maybe Okoto was just a world that's only accessible through Daxia. And I suggested training exercises because in Gen 2, it seemed like the Toa were just then getting in touch with their elemental abilities.

Thats would be awesome Ngl tho as soon asI saw ekimu and makuta s story in gn 2 i was like...yep its the 2 brothers Arthaka and Karzahni all over again!!!!

@@vulpescorvum7602 Yeah, that would have been cool as well. I also thought that maybe the Toa used the Kanohi Olmak at some point, and the Toa were sent to an alternative Matoran Universe with Okoto being the alternative Mata Nui Island. That would Gen 2 the room to breath with it's own lore for a Universe.

@@taqresu5865 I hope so...an do I miss G1 yeah... It's sad bc G2 has potential....it hurts me a lot knowing that Bionicle...saved Lego in it's time of need....and now Lego doesn't care about Bionicle anymore ....they didn't even feature them in The Lego movie man....like tf

You might have wanted to also mention that the way Artakha's teleportation works is also pretty unique in the MU. Most teleportation in the MU operates pretty much on quicktravel, as in going from A to B in a straight line very fast and intangible. But Artakha actually seems to creates wormholes so A and B are the same point. He could for example teleport into and out of the closed off codrex with energy storms without problem, where a Makuta using their teleportation would be decimated, since they'd still have to travel through said storms and the codrex' force field.

Just as you, I prefer KhingK's MoC, rather than the official one. Artakha is a super important character, and I'm glad you covered not just his lore, but also the story of how we have a few depictions of him now!

KhingK didn’t make an Artakha moc he just made the mask the was on the winning moc.

@@somebiofan2851 MoC is also an abbreviation used for the Mask of Creation, so that's probably what he meant.

The canon winning Mask pf Creation is more canonically accurate than KhibngK’s due to it having designs (symbols) from different cultures.

I loved the inclusion of Artakha and Karzahni. Once the broader lore of the Matoran Universe started being uncovered in the wake of the *Mask of Light* arc, the BIONICLE universe no longer seemed as "mythical" as it previously did: Mata Nui wasn't an unknowable sleeping god who was the standard the Matoran held themselves to, but a giant, inattentive robot. And Makuta wasnt his envious brother, but a megalomaniac bent on world domination. Make no mistake, I ADORE this franchise, and aside from *maybe* the tragically rushed final year, I wouldn't change much of anything as Gen 1 stands now. But Artakha and Karzahni seemed to me like an attempt to inject this universe with the sense of mythology the main narrative was slowly losing. A shame we never got an official Artakha set to go along with the Karzahni one.
