I think female galahs are my favorite. My dad had one when we were growing up & she was sort of maternal toward us kids. I have read that galahs hang around to raise the next generation with their parents so I suspect she saw us as younger siblings or something that were a bit thick & needed taking care of.

As an Aussie, I’ve never come across anyone yet who gets upset over them being called Rose breasteds. To us they are just flamin Galahs but technically they are a rose breasted cockatoo. Very much a cockatoo 😁 My girl is almost 2, can’t wait for her to get her red eyes like Bondi!

It's galah here in Australia. Also the nickname for people that behave the same way - 'flaming galah'. Both are a bit of a doofus, bit silly but totally loveable. Mine likes to preen my skin a bit and uses my ear to steer me to where he wants to go.

I knew Bondi was most likely named after the beach in Australia, and I wondered if you were able to go there on your last visit. Bondi's deep fuchsia chest feathers and baby pink crown are a show stopper. It's a great thing she loves different people, and her relationship with Capri especially on flight trips is bestees! Can't wait for part 2.

Hi, JamieLeigh, Capri!!! Bondi looks so adorable lifting her feet and cheeping. I think you said that means that she wants to go over to Capri. Bondi lifts her little foot and waves it and cheeps. She's so sweet!!! Thank you for telling us more about Bondi! What a sweet heart! She is very gentle with your skin. That's good. Did you train her to be very gentle with your skin? My cockatiel Beenie can bite too hard on my skin. I never really trained him. If I remember to say, "Gentle, Gentle," he won't bite down as hard. Love, big hugs, birdie kisses. I would love a galah one day but for now I hope to get a budgie to learn birds body language . When I was younger we had a Cockatiel and and she was always very aggressive and we never understood why ( she was with mutiple family members before she came to us ) . however through watching your videos I realise that a lot of her behaviour is due to trauma she experienced in the past , her mate died and she became more aggressive and on top of that I think that when I was younger my parents didn't really know how to handle her or how to build a relationship but now I know so much more and I'm very grateful for that so thank you. P.s In the end the cocktiel moved in with my grandma and had a good life till she passed but I wish we could have done more 😔

It’s a cockatoo, Galah is just the specific common name for that pink and grey cockatoo. In Australia when we say “cockatoo” by itself we are typically referring to one of the white ones. I don’t know why we do it like that, maybe it’s because Galahs are so common that we just gave the their own name.

Galahs live in the wild where I live and I always see pairs sitting in trees. One of them sits with its head ducked, and the other one repetitively pecks at it quite roughly. They make loud sounds like they're being hurt; the first time I saw it I freaked out because I thought one of them was attacking the other, but I see it all the time and they seem to be fine afterwards... it's really strange😂
