Who is Lord Ganesha? The creation of Lord Ganesha was done symbolically and can teach us many things about how we can overcome our negative energy by working on it with mindfulness. Listen to this discourse by Om Swami to gain insight on the yogic and esoteric meaning of the birth of Lord Ganesha.
Most of the stories in our scriptures were written to elaborate and were explained by divine people with great intellect. However with changing times, many reduced these scriptures into mere rituals. The idea behind rituals and practices was to regulate ourselves and keep a balance both physically and emotionally. It is only when you are mindful and aware of what you are doing and why you are doing it, that you rise above your conflicts and confusions. The epic of Lord Ganesha's birth exemplifies how a story can signify a learning process.

I have found that most of the Puranic stories are allegorical signifying deep philosophical meaning but ignorant teachers have taken them literally. Thank you Swamiji for bringing our the real meanings.

Krishna Prabhakar they contain healing energy and deal with the subconscious mind.they contain multiple layers of meaning.by contemplating on these stories their deeper meanings surface and reveal themselves.it is a great cultural heritage and wealth of India.

Interesting discourse. Good to know that many or most Hindus realize the allegorical nature of some of the stories. I would not investigate Hinduism for many years because when I was young I encountered a Hindu man who told me all of these stories were literal historical events.

That's so simple to understand Kamdev = Sexual desire Kamdev tries to attack shivji so he feels lust for Parvati Maa And hence burning of kamdev is equal to burning of lust, He didn't wanted to feel that time ..as he wanted Parvati to meditate and gives up limitations of her human body before merging with him ( the supreme conciousness ) Parvati being ( energy ) as well as represent sadhak
