I'm back after an unplanned break with a mammoth book haul! I've been uncontrollable in the bookshops recently & have also been sent some exciting new releases. I hope you enjoy hearing about all these books and that you find something to add to your own TBR 🙂

I don't go out of my way to crack the spine but I really don't care about it happening - my main thing is enjoying reading and that includes a book being physically comfortable to read! I also underline - mostly non-fiction but now and then in fiction 🙈 oh well guess we all have our own relationship with books ha. I like the sound of Such Small Hands - sounds like a nice creepy autumnal read, and I've been thinking about reading All My Puny Sorrows too - I'm sure I've heard it's based on the author's own experiences so sure that will make it even more powerful xx

Standard evening: Watching one of your haul videos with my Good Reads app open adding almost every book you mention to my 'to buy' shelf. I read Tell The Wolves I'm Home in May, mostly on a flight home to London from Toronto. Reading sad stories on planes is not a good idea. I was sitting in an aisle seat, there was nowhere to hide my tears. On the cracked spine debate, I really don't care. I don't do it on purpose, but I don't mind. I buy a lot of my books second hand anyway, the spines are cracked before I even own them. I like my books to look read. My copy of To Kill a Mockingbird has been read so many times you can barely read the spine, but I won't buy another until it literally disintegrates. My one concession to preserving books is removing the dust jackets from hardback books while I read them.

First of all, I love your videos and how you always talk about books I haven't heard of before (except Harry Potter, of course) but really, really want to read. (I want to read every single book you talked about, send help!) I'm glad I'm not the only one who's uncertain about their Hogwarts house - according to the test I'm either Slytherin or Hufflepuff. My heart lies with Slytherin but all my friends insist I'm Hufflepuff. It's a struggle. And, last but not least, I crack my spines as well. And take notes in the books (not always but especially with non-fiction and poetry), and occasionally dogear the pages. I just love to make my books look read. Lots of love & I'm looking forward to your next video! xx

I recently bought the special edition Ravenclaw copy of HP and the Philosopher Stone. It has been YEARS since I read the books. Thinking of picking it up in December :) New subscriber, hope to keep in touch! x

Ravenclaw pride! I've always tested into either Ravenclaw or Gryffindor. But I know 11 year-old me would definitely have been sorted into Ravenclaw, so there I am. I'm definitely a spine-breaker. I don't see books as sacred objects, just the means to put something sacred into my head and heart. I like for my books to look a little battered and fatter when I'm done, as if I've left a piece of myself inside.

Sorry to Disturb the Peace sounds so interesting. Definitely adding to my list. Happy anniversary! I bought the Ravenclaw paperback recently, it's so pretty. I hope they do the rest of the series in these designs. I've heard mixed reviews about snotgirl, so currently waiting to see if my library is going to get volume 1 in. I'm so excited for Jen's book. Cracking spines, I'm a bit torn about. I love it when they looks pretty and you can tell what they are, but also I will crack the spine if the book is a bit cumbersome and will read easier that way. I recently bought The Good Immigrant edited by Nikesh Shukla and Black & British A Forgotten History by David Olusoga because I want to learn more about other cultures that are in the UK and the history behind them. I've heard such wonderful things about both of these, have you read either of them? I'm hoping to read them in October when I've finished Sci-Fi September.

Sorry to Disturb the Peace was indeed interesting, ha!! I haven't reviewed it yet in my most recent wrap up, since I talked for too long, but I'll review it super soon! I absolutely want to get to The Good Immigrant, especially now The Good Journal is going to be a thing :)

Refuge sounds interesting. My mom wasn't a refugee but she is an immigrant to the US from Iran, and she has a very strained relationship with her father whom she hasn't seen in over 20 years. Christodora also sounds incredible poignant

I don't get how people read paperbacks without cracking the spine. Like, how it is physically possible for them to do that. I try to, but it never works. Or the tension in the cover is too strong when the spine is uncracked, and my fingers end up hurting when I hold the book with one hand. It puzzles me.
