Depends on the version, actually. In most versions, Morgan has no royal blood and she supports Mordred's claim. Only very recent versions have made her Uther's daughter and therefore a potential claimer herself.

Idk about the show but the first versions of Arthurian legend had shown Morgan as Arthur's Godmother who saved Arthur's life a lot of times . Its modern writers that made them enemies.

Morgan le Fey is Morgan the Fated per the original Scottish. "Fated" has the sense of being touched by a god, or God. It does have other connotations, like "otherworldly", and it can be stretched into Morgan the Fairy. There is a definite sense of something supernatural. As far as a "real" name, she is a fictional character, so she doesn't actually have a "real" name. Generally in the legend she was Arthur's half-sister, but by their mother Igraine. She was born before Uther knocked up Igraine and begat Arthur. But there are dozens of variations of the stories, and a lot of variant spellings of the names. So they've changed the background, but lots of poets have done that over the centuries.

@Hetahetalia Thanks for the clarification. This is an interest, but I don't have the grasp of the primary sources that you do. As for the etymology of le Fey...it might be a bit more complicated than deriving from a single language. This cycle when through so many different languages & cultures, that there are trace deposits from most of Europe. But again, you have a grasp of detail that I lack, so I'll take your word. Thanks again.

Hi. Sorry it took so long to respond. You are correct that word origins can be complicated, especially when dealing with legends this old. I've been reading about Arthur and all for decades now, but I'm hardly an expert. "Fey" is a very old old concept that has doubtless takenon different shades of meaning in different times and places. You may we'll have insight that an academic approach can easily miss. I try to be brief, but that can be confusing.
