The problem with society is that people see being nice as a weakness when in reality it should be seen as a strength. It takes a lot to be nice, even when you don’t want to

Kindness goes such a long way. I remember almost exactly 2 years ago when I was going through the darkest time of my life spiritually and emotionally. I went into a post office and the woman behind the counter was so nasty and rude. It took all the strength I had to leave that place without crying. I went to the next post office and the woman behind the counter was so kind that it almost brought me to tears. That experience taught me such an important lesson about the power of kindness. You never know what someone is dealing with internally. "A soft word turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger." Proverbs 15:1

It's sad that in 2023 the world and the family of God need a lesson on being nice. I find that kindness is so rare, that people are suspicious of kind people. Often, a kind hearted person is accused of being fake or trying to take advantage of others. A much needed message!!🙏🏽💯🙏🏽

I came to Texas for my amazing dad’s funeral (who died soon after we spoke and laughed with him on the phone) and stopped to visit my sister who died soon after that visit. Some church ppl really aren't CHRISTIANS. Many who are CHRISTIANS aren't filled with the HOLY SPIRIT. The HOLY SPIRIT is the one who helps us to love one another when we aren't feeling like showing love. In John JESUS gave us a Commandment to love one another as he loves us. If we can't show love we need to shake the dirt from our feet & try our best to move on away from that person or place!!!

Paul Crouch said one time, don't blame God for what I do! I know from personal experiences with the church and church folks, that their behavior has and will turn people off too God! We all have to be more mindful of how we treat each other! Bishop Blakes is right! We all going through something! But it doesn't give you the right too mistreat others! Let's be honest, some people are cruel, because they enjoy it! But that's another sermon for another time!

People need practical spirituality. Thank you for saying that. I’ve been thinking about how my kindness has been taken advantage of lately and thinking about perhaps getting rid of that trait. But the truth is that I dont know how to not be kind to people. I sincerely want people to leave me feeling like life is good. I guess there will always be people who take advantage of my kindness. It’s not a reflection of me, but a reflection of their character. And I have learned how to cut folks off once I get the message. So thank you for this message.

I remember when I first started going to church April 2013.( I was looking for hope because I was depressed and suicidal so decided to try church) I was in classes to become baptised I got pregnant in May and the pastor said he could not continue to teach me because I was pregnant..I felt so rejected and broken that every time I went church, I felt like I was the biggest sinner there and would look around at everyone singing and worshiping and would say to myself that all those peope were without sin and they were perfect. (I really believed it)...That really impacted my worship and self-worth.

The fact of the matter is that the majority of people are only "nice" when they want something or up to something. Most people are not just going to be nice out of the kindness of their heart. Sad but true. Set boundaries and live your life. It's not your place to figure out people's problems out. They have enough sense like you do to be responsible. Most people's problems are created because they're irresponsible. Living beyond their means, having kids they can't afford, don't really want and dump off on family members or the foster care system, smoking cigarettes, using drugs, etc. I'm responsible and I expect the same out of other people. I have fallen for so many sob stories over the years. I'm more discerning now and it's paid off. I live my life and let others live theirs

When I saw two years ago how someone could take a bad thing that happened and take it out on someone else and as a society we enabled it- it made me lose a lot of faith in the human race. I’m still not over it- it’s absolutely traumatizing to witness that. That’s not how any justice should work and it’s absolutely not fair to judge someone because of their color of their skin nor job nor culture nor anything! Horrifying and wrong and so many to this day have not called out that behavior- mass psychosis. To this day not enough leaders want to stand up for what’s right! And what is right thinking. They love division and unrest and problems and chaos! Don’t fall for it!! Call it out and be the light

I'm glad you touched on this. Having encountered some of the rudest people to identify as Christian, I myself became embarrassed to say I was Christian. I now choose to say I am Spiritual. The reason I choose Spiritual and not agnostic or atheist, is because I am turned off by the religious people NOT by my belief in God.

In a nutshell, this is a straightforward, honest explanation on what Jesus defined as THE second most important commandment, to love one's neighbor, next only to the first commandment to love God. Not saccharine either, because it makes us closely examine ourselves.

Bishop! When I say you aren’t telling any lies! I never forget when I was in my senior year of college.. I was so exhausted n struggling, working a full time over night job n going to school full time AND a weekend internship. I didn’t know how I would make it. My internship supervisor had a VERY nasty demeanor n attitude. Me n a classmate was so disappointed we got stuck w her until ONE DAY I overheard her say she had to rush to catch her Uber outside. She was yelling at the man on the phone about the address she was going to. When I over heard her say the block right around the corner from my house, I stopped the elevator n said “ ms woods I live right around the corner from you. I can give you a ride home .” It was like this lady switched to a whole different person. From that day forward she was so nice to me and made my internship a BREEZE. of course she was still mean to my classmate n they noticed how different she treated me.. when they asked me what I done I said “ I was just nice to her. “ MY GOD 🙏🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 this was a word.

Thank you, we must just be nice it's healthy and as humans we must stop judging others, so that we will understand the word of God, but instead there are those who read vice versa and act as if they are God. Jesus Christ said the blind will see and those who claim to see will be blind that's spiritual blindness that the Pharisees and the teachers of law did not notice Jesus and John the Baptist in front them, because of the same attitude of bitterness and lack of kindness in them. They still exists in churches and judging people by money or what they are bringing, the poorest does not enjoy life in churches now adays.

There’s a great book called, The Four Agreements. I remember one of the agreements was, never take anything personally because it’s never about you. I know it’s easier said than done, but I believe hurting people hurt people. I’m not saying it’s ok to be unkind because it’s definitely not, but I’m learning to look at the situation and ask God to help me keep calm and not respond with unkindness.

Thank you pastor for this message today! I am convicted for too many of your points and it’s opened my eyes. My stress is not a reason for the way I have been conducting myself. The end of my relationship with my husband isn’t a reason to be so angry or short with anybody. I have to admit I laughed at your words because that was me and I know it’s not funny. I laughed because I saw myself in the same scenarios you gave. I had to say I’m sorry to God at that time when I laughed because I realized I don’t believe myself. Thank you for this word. I had a similar conversation with a dear friend last night about this and she felt the same as you. Long story short, I need to be nicer to people in general. I’m wouldn’t say I’m mean, but I have been very guarded. I needed this word. Thanks again.

I would love to share this with many people. I don't understand why the pop-up for giving money keeps coming onto the screen over and over. I believe it is a distraction. I believe that we are to give generously. But it feels like overkill when it keeps coming on to the screen. I don't feel that we have to repeat over and over give give give. I believe the Holy Spirit shows people when they're supposed to give. I pray from my heart this ministry and you my brother stay a humble. I love how you take time to teach on relationships. That you're doing it from a biblical basis and pure motives. I'm thankful for that. I pray and hope that you always stay pure to the Word of God RC. That you do not become a hyper-faith, seed touting preacher. Or Word of faith that is slipping into the church. It is becoming a feel-good church. Not God's church. 🙏 Prayers for you.

Truth. Suicidal thoughts are real and some times just a simple acts of kindness can make a hugh difference whether we live another day. Seen this way ...wonder why we all so stingy with simple niceness ...hmmm

I definitely agree with you Pastor Blake's, I'm a very loving kind woman, who helps whoever when I can& my heart goes out to the homeless, I have a soft spot for them....I'm always giving them money when I see them...I have my 2 kids giving them money because they see me doing it& I explain to them we can be where they are so always help the less fortunate. One time being nice and giving to the homeless almost got me hurt but I didn't let that one bad experience stop me from continuing to give. Sometimes ppl take others kindness for granted in life. Do you have any uplifting words for me when it comes to ppl doing that?

This was beautiful Pastor thanku alot and I intend to live a life of kindness to eveyone who I come in contact with and brighten the corner wherever I am guided by the Holy Spirit. And Pastor concerning the guy who you were harsh with when you were young and didn't know better. I believe God have forgiven you and He promises to wash all our sins away.( I can still see you wish to see him again to really apologise)God knows your heart my bro.Once we confess our sins He is willing to forgive us.1 John 1:9.
