----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Baked Meat Sandwich
biscuit crust & top:
2c Bisquick
1/2c cold water
2T mayonnaise
filling:
1 lb ground beef
1/2c grated onion
1/2c shredded swiss cheese
1/2c parmesan cheese
1 egg, slightly beaten
2T chopped parsley
1.5t salt
1/4t Tobasco sauce
Heat oven to 400. Grease 8x8x2 inch square pan.
Saute ground beef and onion together until beef is browned and onions are completely cooked. Remove from heat. Drain. Stir in cheeses, egg, parsley, salt, and Tobasco. Set aside.
Mix Bisquick, cold water, and mayonnaise together with a fork. Gently smooth dough into a ball on a floured surface and knead 5 times. With floured fingers, pat half of the dough into prepared pan. Spread meat mixture over dough. Spread remaining dough over meat mixture. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes.

I am 70 years old. This brings back many memories. If you will look ok on the internet and look up Missouri Mix, you will see a kinda a Bisquick mix you can make at home and save in Tupperware for an extended length of time. There are all kinds of recipes using this mix and I remember them being delicious and could quickly made for such things as drop biscuits, pie crust, cookies and cake.

MISSOURI MIX INGREDIENTS 9 cups all-purpose flour 1⁄3 cup double-acting baking powder 1 cup powdered milk 2 tablespoons powdered milk 4 teaspoons salt 1 3⁄4 cups shortening DIRECTIONS Stir baking powder, dry milk, and salt into the flour. Using an electric mixer, mix shortening into the flour mixture until all the particles of shortening are thoroughly coated and the mixture resembles coarse cornmeal. Store in an airtight container in a cool dry place. No need to refrigerate.

The year this book was published, 1967, was the year I graduated high school. I’m now 74, and a member of a huge generation known as The Baby Boomers. There were millions of us! This is likely why the editors of this book spoke of the teenagers at that time as if we were the barbarians at the gate; We sort of were! I love that you’re using these books from my youth. Am a recent subscriber, and really enjoying your channel. Thanks for all of these old-timey recipes.

The Jiffy baking box used to have a meat roll that was similar. Roll out dough sprinkle a meat mix over it and roll up like a jelly roll. Then bake and slice.. Could add BBQ sauce, a layer of cheese, more veggies if desired.

Oh no so sorry I'm preventing you from getting things done! 😂 My background is a mix of things. I worked retail for many years as a younger adult, but then switched to more of an office setting. Community building roles in the tech and non profit space mostly. Thank you very much for the compliments on my camera presence! One of the reasons I started filming was to get more comfortable with myself - how I look, sound, etc. After spending many hours editing videos and having to watch and listen to myself, I finally feel ok about these things and it's not so cringey.

You nudged a memory. Probably 1979-1980, I remember mom making cheese pancake sandwiches. I *think* she also made me corn pancakes. I’m the youngest of several children, and spent more time with her when the others were in school. I’m thinking she made cheese-corn sandwich pancakes. Or maybe my 5-year old self remembers it in a small corner of my brain. I do know it’s been weird to me that friends find it weird. I would like some right now. I’m sure my little girl would be on board. 🫤😬😃

It might be easier to make this like a turnover/hand pie kind of thing: divide dough in fourths, pat each quarter into a square, fill with meat, fold into a triangle & seal the edges before baking. Proportions may be off? I dunno. Might be worth experimenting with.

Funny, as I'm watching I have individual shortcakes cooling in the kitchen --- made from Bisquick. I don't think I've had anything made with Bisquick in at least 40 years, I'm pretty sure I've never purchased the stuff before yesterday. But I sure ate enough as a child of the 70s. But this weekend I was craving old school, mom style strawberry shortcake, so here we are. When the weather cools I'll make Bisquick's coffee cake.

I despise when people don't share food with their dogs. Dogs' primary sense is that of scent. She's going to have been driven mad by the delicious smells as you prepared that dish. Further, Dogs are pack animals and being included is important to them. There's no reason you couldn't have given her a bite. Poor Dottie.

It tuned out really delicious , And definitely No excuse , with the grease and everything , too easy to make to Not. Just the Crumbles , fac. refined Coconut Oil for the grease , Soy Sauce ( Marmite or Braggs Aminos ) , maybe diced sauteed Onions ( or preferred in this recipe , pre-soaked in Water , dehydrated minced Onion * ) , maybe Garlic & Onion Powders , tinge of Cayenne & Sweet Paprika ( the recipe really doesnt require the Seasonings though ) . Almost like all in one Au jus too 🤍🩷
