US Fest 1983. I was at this concert. Triumph definitely rocked. It was very hot outside and it was the largest concert for attendance in one day ever at this point. This was the heavy metal day, even though triumph wasn't considered heavy metal.

@@bretttodd6470 if I remember correctly they were the second band right after quiet riot and it actually was their first giant show that's when they really arrived, I grew up north of La in Ventura and we used to go down to Los Angeles and see them in the clubs. @@Megadeth1921 I was 17 and about to turn 18 that November so we are right along the same time line. I had seen some of the acts do better concerts but it was a monumental show. I have seen iron maiden at the Long Beach arena when they were doing the live after death tour recording the album, that was definitely a time stamp in my life. I saw Ozzy on the Blizzard of ozz tour with the late great Randy Rhoads. I caught Pink Floyd on the Wall tour in Los Angeles. I feel very blessed to have grown up in that time.

I love it when Reactors discover Triumph! They AMAZED the world live, on the radio and their albums, you'd think he had reached his high notes then moments later he goes higher...later, higher still. They came from Toronto around the same time as Rush and often were compared to each other because they're both power trios. They were referred to at the time as "the good guys of rock" for their positive lyrics and their 'regular guy' appearance. "Never Surrender", "World of Fantasy" and "Magic Power" were big hits led by Rik. "Tears in the Rain" was a fairly big hit sang by drummer Gil Moore and has a pretty good video featuring him but "When the Lights Go Down" is my personal favorite Gil Moore song. That one has great stereo effects in the studio version, I mean VERY COOL stereo effects!

The US Festival- Hard Rock Day! Triumph songs almost always focus on the positive! No darkness with them! 3 man band, sometimes toured with a 4th. Rik Emmett is a highly under rated guitarist and his vocals were superb. Gil Moore on the drums and vocals as well awesome and finally Mike Levine on bass kept them on track! I was so lucky having to listen to their songs every day on the radio! Arguably Triumph has the best band that hot heavy metal day in 1983!

Sunday May 29, 1983 in the desert of San Bernardino California. I was fortunate enough to be one of 350,000+ metalhead rocking out. I was about 15 to 20 people from the front on the bass players side of the stage. I had just turned 17 the week before and had the time of my life. Quiet Riot, Mötley Crüe, Ozzy Osbourne, Judas Priest,Triumph, Scorpions and Van Halen closed out the night. It was a three day festival Saturday being new wave day and Monday being rock ‘n’ roll day. Neither of those crowds were anywhere near the size of Sunday heavy metal day. In my opinion.Triumph was the best band that day. Judas Priest had a great set but triumph was by far the best. I always love when people react to this show because it brings back some great memories. I was on a weeklong high, partying like crazy. The best of times. I always enjoy your reactions to the music I grew up with.👏👏👏👏🤙🤙🤙🤙🤘🤘🤘🤘

This performance was at the 1983 US Festival in California hosted by one of the original owners and inventors of Apple Computers. Triumph was virtually unknown in the US when they came to the show. After the show they had stolen the headlines. The whole performance by Triumph at the show is worth watching but notable songs you should also hear are 'Magic Power' and 'Lay it on the Line' to me these three songs are better live at this show than on their albums. Rik Emmett the singer and guitar player nailed his vocals, but all three of them are masters of their instruments and can sing amazing backups and lead vocals in their own right. Thanks for sharing. Chris

2 million albums, wow out of a population of 300 million that means almost half of a single percent of the country new them. But after this concert and when MTV hit its stride they became much bigger and known wider. I couldn't beg my local radio stations to play them until after the US festival and MTV. The dj's would just say who? Oh another Rush wannabe and move on. So I guess it depends where in the US you were. I was in a small rural area. We had AM stations that played top 40 only for payola and we had independent FM stations that mainly played album cuts and had no advertising. Chris

Thanks to the rest of us that were huge fans early they could no longer be denied. They got the invitation to do this show and the rest is history. They blew every single band off the stage at the “US FESTIVAL”. One of the greatest rock shows of all time. I was lucky enough to see them in 1986. They took the top off Met Center!!!!!

I went to this concert, aka Heavy Metal Sunday. It reached 105 degrees that day. We were young and sweating and we could care less about the blistering heat. A handful of bands were also there: Quiet Riot, Ozzy, Judas Priest, The Scorpions, and Van Halen. One of the best festival concerts of the 80s. Triumph rocked the sea of people! There were video monitors placed toward the back. There were about 200,000 people in front of us and nobody got hurt but quite a few people suffered from dehydration. Nonetheless, we had a blast! Good times...

Canadians are frugal, why have 5 or 6 guys in a band when 3 can get the job done? There are so many great Canadians who rock... April Wine; Prism; Max Webster (a band, not a dude); Streetheart; Toronto (a band, not a slum); Rush (poor man's Triumph); One To One (who produced the first Alanis Morrisette album, the good one, not Jagged); Alannah Myles; Lee Aaron (oh my Gawd); etc. But, first 3 that are so cool you'll need to move to the great white north. The Stampeders, Sweet City Woman. Showdown, The Rodeo Song (teehee, if ya know, you know). Gerry Ducette/Ducette Mama Let Him Play. There, that'll keep you busy for a few days!

Love your reaction videos Bisscute! I would love to hear you react to a song or two by country music artist Toby Keith (RIP). Sadly, he just passed away a few weeks ago after a 2 year battle with cancer. But I did see him in concert in Florida back in 2016 and it was a great show! If you see this, a few Toby Keith songs I might recommend are “I Love This Bar,” “As Good As I Once Was,” “Should’ve Been a Cowboy,” “Beer for My Horses,” and/or “Courtesy of the Red White and Blue” Best wishes from US!

Saw them live a couple of times at the old memorial Stadium in St John's and they always put on a great show. Blinding Light Show is my favorite by them.

Rik Emmett the singer of Triumph always gave me Geddy Lee vibes and it’s in full force during this show. Not really surprising since both are Canadian

Triumph hails from Canada and is awesome just like some other 3 member group from Canada. The name escapes me....😂😂. RUSH!! This was the US83 festival. Another group that performed there was Judas Priest. I highly recommend the video of Victim of Changes. Insane!! Thanks!!

You said something about how you love double neck guitars on another video, which is funny because Rick Emmett any and every other time would be playing a double neck guitar.

Rik Emmet is one of the most under recognized guitarists ever. And Triumph is the often overlooked "other" three man rock band from Canada. For just a taste of Rik's amazing skill level, check out "Petite Etude"from their Allied Forces album
