If you aren’t rinsing your carpets already I highly recommend it. For two reasons: 1. If you leave any type of soapy residue in the carpet any type of moisture reactivates the cleaning solution and makes your carpet act as a soapy cleaning cloth. The dirt from pet paws (or whatever else) wants to cling to the alkaline soap solution and your carpets get dirty quicker, plus it just makes it difficult to clean them over time. It’s a mistake I used to make and changing this has made a big difference for me. 2. The carpet can sometimes feel a little stiff due to the basic/alkaline pH of many cleaning chemicals, so to counteract this I rinse with plain water or water with a little vinegar. I hate the smell of vinegar but you don’t smell it when you use it as a rinse (I just fill to the water line and add vinegar to the formula line and it’s been effective enough). You can add a few drops of an essential oil if you’d like too. Vinegar also does a good job of neutralizing the pH of the carpet and odors in general. Another suggestion is to spray down the carpets with cleaner in a pump sprayer or with the machine (I usually just do a fast pass on it with the bissell and then spend more time letting the machine slowly scrub while rinsing- rather than on the soapy pass. ) Hopefully this helps someone.

@@lifeofleannarose6869 no problem! I really enjoyed your video. I know that this adds an extra pass but for me it really improved the feel of the carpet. It also seemed like I was able to get it clean faster the next time and that it didn’t get dirty as quickly. Awesome content! Keep it up!

when you rinse your carpet do you just add water without the cleaner to the vacuum and do it all the same way?

@@rachelbernhardt4419 I did initially just use water alone in the carpet cleaner as a rinse and sometimes I still do. But if I cleaned the carpet with a lot of soap or a harsh soap then I try to rinse with vinegar water mixed. I also used this method for spot cleaning a stain- I would put soap on the stain and scrub it manually, then use the machine or I would use the machine to scrub with just water to rinse it. This is super useful when you don’t want to use a lot of water. I use it when cleaning my car seats. I spray them with a bottle i mixed of a little laundry detergent with water, then I scrub them with a soft brush (or a drill brush) and then I use the carpet cleaning attachment with just clean hot/warm water. I’ve been learning more about cleaning vs. disinfecting for a while. And the added benefit of using vinegar with the water is that it balances out the ph of the of the cleaners. I think a mistake a lot of people make is that they “over clean” and sometimes damage things that make it harder to clean in the future. A common example is that this happens in tubs. You can give your tub a light scrub to get off all the soap scum and completely disinfect it, but if you use extreme abrasives, chemicals with abrasives, and scrub like crazy you actually end up scratching the coating and finish on the tub and it stains easier and becomes very difficult to clean. The same thing happens with carpet. If you drench your carpets with every harsh cleaner and just leave it in there, it damages the carpet and makes things worse in the long run. Sorry for the long response, I know you asked a simple question but hopefully this just gives background to anyone reading. I highly recommend spot testing an hidden area though just to make sure there are no issues.

Have you ever tried going back over the carpet with plain water in the tank to create a rinse type function? It's amazing to see the dirt come up afterward with just plain water and I pulled a lot of the residual soap out of the carpet to boot.

IMy Bissell is pretty new as I have only used it twice and don't remember the water leaking out. Seems like it is from the bottom tank. Any suggestions??

9-3-2021 I just bought a Bissell ProHeat Revolution 2x Pet Pro. Some features have changed that make the machine not as nice as before. The Cleanshot spray feature is not included in the model I just bought. Also, there are no release buttons on the clear brush cover. The clear nozzle can be removed for cleaning, but since the clear brush cover cannot be detached or lifted in any way, it is impossible to clean the brushes very well. I'm very disappointed in this machine for those reasons.
@caseyhoyt7353

I think you may have bought the Bissel ProHeat Revolution 2x Pet (not the Pro). The features you're missing are not included on the standard model, but only the Pro. The biggest difference I found the easier way to tell them apart is the color. The Pro is purple and green, while the non-pro is orange. Hope this helps!
@Entropy512
@Entropy512 Жыл бұрын
@@caseyhoyt7353 Some non-Pros are blue - mine is. But "no cleanshot" pretty much screams not a Pro unit. (Bissell's naming is getting confusing, since the "Pro" models actually have "Pro" twice in their name. ProHeat != Pro...)

@@michaellewis6569 Yeah. Definitely don't do bathtub - it's easy to clog it. The trap in a toilet is much larger since it's kind of designed to have large chunks of semisolid matter going through it...
