The Brave Wilderness hosts and crew are professionally trained but receive assistance from animal experts and safety personnel when in potentially life-threatening situations. Permissions were obtained by the crew to film in all locations associated with this series. No animals were injured, killed, or removed from their natural habitat in the filming of this program and instances where animals are brought to the scene are clearly acknowledged in the video. Professional advice should always be sought before entering any dangerous environment, or before encountering any species of animal. Every precaution is taken to handle animals with care and in the least stressful way possible; expert opinions are often solicited when handling animals that may potentially inflict harm to any cast and crew.

Bathynomus (giant isopods) don’t usually bite, only if they’re provoked. I think they’re adorable, btw, not ugly or scary at all. They’re basically pill bugs who adapted to the deep ocean environment, and are a great example of deep sea gigantism.

Absolutely amazing creatures! And I love the information that you and everyone on your crew have to offer as well as your passion. One good thing I think would be good is to always remind people in your videos to wash your hands very thoroughly if you are going to be handling any type of wild animal. You don’t want to spread any unnecessary parasites or bacteria onto the animals. Again fantastic video keep up the amazing work!

@borttorbbq2556
@borttorbbq2556 2 жыл бұрын
They already said. Many animals can but it depends how they've adapted. Isopods have thicker harder shells than most of their smaller kin. But it really is about how quickly they're pulled up same with many prawns and shrimp. It just really depends. Most deep sea animals can be brought up slowly and survive but the softer the out sides the harder it is. For example angler fish will die but some squid and even sperm whales can basically move freely from very deep to very shallow. Admittedly very very deep where oxygen and light are at the lowest you basically only hardshell animals like crabs clams and isopods can be brought up but again it has to be stupidly slow. (Like it could takes days to weeks to successfully do it otherwise they get the bends or get exygen poisoning. Why fisherman tend to not bring up many deep sea fish still alive

I love these sorts of videos, where the video maker knows full well beforehand that isopods don't bite and are completely harmless to humans (all Isopods are harmless, non-venomous and non-poisonous, that's a well known fact). He then makes this terrified video thumbnail with the (likely equally terrified) isopod on his arm. A heroic display of heroism, that's for sure. And steady stream of views (yeah, mine included) comes in. How the world of nature media has fallen. I wish sir David Attenborough lived forever.

Seems like it should be darker for them if they naturally live in the dark. Maybe use a blacklight because they would glow. They are creepy imo, but they seem nice enough and have a job to do (cleaning up dead stuff from the bottom of the sea) and just chilling. They remind me of the ones that replace fish tougnes (which are also isopods i believe).

I love isopods!! I have pet terrestrial isopods (the small ones) but I love studying these ones, in some restaurants in Japan they have these in aquariums. I really hate cockroaches, though, even if my mom thinks they’re alike. Something important about isopods is that they are detritivores and only eat decaying things! That is why it didn’t bite the man. I have never seen my isopods eat live food. Well, except me of course, sometimes I put my finger in the terrarium and they sniff me with their antennae and nibble on my finger for a bit. But it’s only because they’re trying to eat your cuticles. Very, very harmless.
