BJJ Fanatics was started by a pair of black belts (Bernardo Faria & Michael Zenga) who feel that nothing is more important than improving your BJJ skills as much as possible in the least amount of time. Their aim was to create a shop for BJJ Students who don’t look at BJJ as a sport - but as a lifestyle.

Maybe you guys could do a leg coordination/dexterity series like Neil mentions. I would def buy that.

Great video Mike. I also have been a fan of Neil for many years. It was nice to have him flesh out many of the adversities he encountered at such a young age. Blind, deaf, auto-immune, losing his govt job and at the same time overcoming all of it for the love of grappling. I love this part.... Melanson...,”When I started grappling, I felt peace”.

Great podcast guys. Most useful thing IMO is listening to guests give their opinion on learning methodologies. So any questions related to ‘how to learn efficiently’ are appreciated!

Great to see Melanson on the podcast! :-) Love his unique insights on grappling/ground fighting for MMA, and all of his cool techniques! Btw, maybe spread out a bit more for the next interview.. cornering the Ground Marshal like that could result in people getting their legs broken, I would assume:-)

Big fan of Niel! The way he brakes down stuff on the conceptual level is unbelievable, so you can get your head around a technique in depth very easily. Great teacher! The podcast setting was also nice. Good job and keep up bringing us such great contents :-)

I would like to hear more about his Catch wrestling background. That part was a bit too short, especially since how much non-grappling topics got much longer segments.

Luchador 1764 Look up Catch Wrestling Alliance with Raul Ramirez. That will answer your question. I've used a technique from a similar turtle position to get out. Even if someone is punching or trying to punch you, you can reverse it and escape. Raul showed me the technique with his students.

Neil looks like a tough, knowledgeable grappler but I don’t see mma fighters or grapplers pull of anything in his “systems”. Danaher guys pull off all his stuff in high level competitions. I don’t see that with Neil’s stuff.

He is predominantly an MMA coach, so his best students focus on that rather than pure grappling is my guess.
@user-nb8dm1gz2t

@@mylawnow yeah but to add to this I don't see people doing his stuff in MMA either. But the grappling in MMA is going to be different because once someone gets side control or mount they usually prefer to finish with strikes vs going for risky submissions because it's safer and will end the fight

ive seen a lot of his turtle guard system in mma. we get in danaher is the best but i dont get why everyone discredits every other coach.

I understand the guy on the left feeling the need to steer the interview but man he’s rude. Figgity as hell, easily distracted making him come off as disinterested, he’s constantly cutting off Neil, then repeatedly coughs in his face. Doesn’t even attempt to turn his head away. Not to mention the cough drowns out Neil’s speech. This guy is the worse. Aside from that..It was great to learn a bit more about Neil. .
