I own a Mach E GT and you are very spot on with the vast majority of your review. Some people can't take honesty. Its an amazing car needless to say. Can they fix some things, of course. I waited to buy an EV in the States, to when we finally got a manufacturer that is reliable, dependable and could service my vehicle if/when it breaks down. Unlike quite a few of the other auto makers you are just dead in the water until they fly somebody to repair it. Thanks for the review.

Thanks a lot! Very informative, and I especially appreciate that you try and push the car to misbehave like you did here. It's not nitpicking, but a testimony to the quality of evs nowadays, when you really have to provoke them to tell what the pros and cons are, and truly compare between different makers and models. Yes, primary motor is the rear motor in Mach-E. The Korean E-GMP platform uses front motor disconnector (can be observed in Car Scanner).

Problem with this car is the annoying one pedal drive and the regeneration that takes a few seconds before it’s kicks in, I always wait get panic and press the break pedal just before the regeneration start.

It depends on the drive mode. I always drive in Untamed/Unbridled and the regen kicks in immediately as I let go of the accelerator pedal.

The one pedal drive is one of the features I really like with the Mach-e. A few seconds before it kicks in? You need to get that checked

The Mach-E may be a bit rough around the edges in places - like the hose mess under the hood as mentioned, but that's largely because the vehicle is still quite new and was developed fairly quickly - Ford bought some AC s--- off the shelf and shoved it in there with minimal R&D rather than to develop a system from the ground up for EV use. The end result is heavier and less efficient, but as mentioned in this video, it does work. And it works...pretty well actually it seems. Most reviews I have seen of the Mach-E have been very positive overall, in fact almost all reviews have been mostly or overwhelmingly positive. So despite the quirks, this is a good EV which will serve the owner well. Norwegians overall seem to agree, considering how common the car is getting to be over there! ;) (I see them whenever you guys go over the border to shop or on vacation, driving down the west coast... lol) Most importantly, interviews with the Ford team which designed the car shows people with a lot of pride and faith in their product. It's obvious they're taking their job seriously, and that this is just a first iteration and way more polish and optimization will come in the future. The new ferrofluidic dampers in this year's top model is just one aspect of that. Before the Mach-E came out, Ford was another of those heel-draggers in the legacy car industry, and basically everyone thought their next EV would be another purely compliance vehicle window-dressing thing - we were clearly wrong there, and the strides Ford has made since then shows they will continue quite aggressively with EV development. So things will only get better from here on out. ...Well, until we all destroy ourselves, that is of course. ;)

It's all good stuff - stay doing it. This sounds like a true modern day American muscle car. Quick and fast from traffic lights, but big and heavy yet much less space than you'd expect, , inefficient, messily hacked together rather than smart design, and not so good if you ever need to turn.

The honking is a security feature to warn you that the car is not locked from the inside and the alarm is not armed. This way you can safely lock your kids/wife/dog etc inside the car while it's still on. They won't trigger the alarm, and they can leave the car if needed. I guess it's similar to Tesla Dog Mode, though solved completely different. I kind of like the solution, but the honking can be really annoying in some cases. Especially combined with walk-away-lock, and even worse when using phone as a key.

As for the drag coefficient of this car, I have found 3 (or 4) different values on the web. Supposedly Ford claimed it to be less than 0.30 but that's all I could find about what was officially said by Ford. Other sites claim 0.3, 0.29 or 0.285. So why are you so sure that it is actually 0.3? What is your source?

Can you help me to make better choice? I thinking to buy EV very soon, and 2 models are my favorites - Mustang Mach-E LR RWD and Hyundai Ioniq 5 AWD. Most of my driving routes are between cities from 200-500km on local roads (about 80%), highways (10%), city driving (10%). Which car is better by your opinion? Or you have better idea? Greetings from Croatia. I like your videos very much because they feels real... :)

Thanks for the review Bjørn! Though I’m disappointed by the outcome but all fair. Hoping for a huge improvement on the next versions. The honking is a normal Ford feature. It honks when you open the door while you’re in Drive mode, it honks when the proximity key is outside its fencing area and if the car is still powered. It’s good in a way in terms of security for the car if someone wants to steal it while it’s unattended.

Nice review. The kudos and criticisms seemed fair to me. I wished Bjorn had driven in Whisper since that gives a more compliant ride with the suspension. As Bjorn showed, the 5-second power limit isn't really a problem for most people since by the time it kicks in, you're already doing 80mph. As far as the wheel spin goes, that's a nod to the classic Mustang attribute to over-torque the tires. The inefficiency is a tradeoff for its good looks but it's not nearly as thirsty as an e-tron. It gets ~3mi/kWh when driving at 70mph and recharges back to 80% in an unremarkable amount of time. Ford has been making steady OTA improvements to the infotainment system, battery/charging systems, and driving characteristics. It's possible Ford will tweak the Mach-E GT to eke out some better efficiency, only time will tell.

I agree with your point about the horn -- I HATE it when cars honk their horns when they are locked! That should be illegal. The Tesla flashes its light. That is all that is needed.

It's an option in the settings to honk when locking on a Tesla. I know what you mean by it being annoying but I found there are some scenarios where this is really useful. As many cars now automatically lock when you walk away, if you can't see the car flash or fold the mirrors an audible confirmation is useful. My garage at home was so small that I was only far enough away from the car for it to lock once the garage door was shut and I couldn't see the car so the honk was nice to confirm it had locked.

A very traditional American car. Which is why Sandy Munro likes it so much IMHO - he rates it his second choice after Tesla!. I prefer some attention to sustainability by a car maker. There's more to life than engineering and speed.

Very honest review. In some ways the “messy” Mustang is better because if a component fails, just that component can be replaced at a reasonable cost. With cars like Tesla where they reduce component count as much as possible, any failure results in a larger multi function component being replaced at a much higher cost. The Mustang battery is equally messy but at least it is serviceable unlike the Tesla battery.

Stopping at 3% or 14% on the MX - when I remember correctly - was done because of the static GOM, which did not registered the trailer with its resistance.. Whatsoever, still a bit disappointed about that moment, when the earth stood still back then 😔
