These bikes are often in "better than new" mechanical condition after a basic tuneup at your local bike shop. If you're somewhat handy, just lube the cables and put some air in the tires and it will make a HUGE difference. Subscribe and watch some of my other videos to learn how!

Trek has become an engineering and marketing corporation that sells products into a market of “cyclists” they helped create. In the 1990’s, they were still focusing on durability. It becomes problematic when everyone has a bike that doesn’t need to be replaced. So, you need to come up with new bike categories (women specific, gravel, etc.) and new technologies (wheel sizes, 1x, dropper posts, etc.) that require “cyclists” to buy new products. Meanwhile, those older bikes are still more durable, practical and in many cases, perfectly adequate for most people that haven’t bought into the “cyclist” culture.

@@bkefrmrappreciate the info my dad still has his first cannondale mountain bike when he was in his 30”s I don’t know the exact date but it’s the era when then put like house on the frount thinking like 80-90”s the beginning when made in usa was standard before they started going crazy with the graphics His bike is two tone fade m500 Green I’m trying to find a road bike in that erra people know wat they got asking crazy numbers I just recently bought my first bike specialized sirrus x 4.0 hybrid I was gonna buy used bike but here in Long Island / ny People don’t give them away especially after Covid I actually bought first the fx3 from trek and major issues basically the mounth of hell Il keep it short I noticed the bike wheel had bit of whobble the whole day after I got it so I brought back Trek dealer They took quick glance told me it’s tire After 1 hour of waiting they put new tire on And guy said was still doing it I just kinda blew off walked bike out side loading it t up and notice on my 1,000$ plus bike Know the rear tire same tread but has a big silver stripe around tire Frustrated I just headed home wasn’t sitingbthere longer I went back the next day with the frount wheel in hand and explained the diffent tire He said well that’s a upgraded tire and wanted charge me $60 get matching tire Frustrated He did it for matching to the frount $30 I left but I was pissed I sent message to Mr head trek Which then contacted store and reamed them a new whole because they were very nasty about the second tire and charging So hadme they had me come back in Some how my original tire is gone after 2 days So they refunded me money let me keep the supposedly upgraded tires And he put both wheels on tru stand got them right l Like they suppose to be took it home Took off take after 100 foot I Hurd big bang though I ran somthing over Then I Hurd ticking wtf know it blew spoke right off I was so upset Just wanted to ride my bike Brough thing back after talking with them no rims available No upgraded rims that will fit I just got refund went else wear The trek bike was beautiful paint job Which sold me and the grips Evthing was pos The 10 speed 1x deora kept going out of adjustment every hour don’t know why I went to real bike store and tried out the specialized the frame felt bigger for the same size The paint job is only satin white only disappoint ment But the bike feels rock soild Put 32c tires on instead of 38 that came with it But biggest difference is that size that trek was small I’m 5,foot 10 280 lb And noticed large specialized was much more comfortable Srry to make this so long looking forward to ur next video/ ur winter when u gonna pound out videos
