Superman had just come down from space, so it's pretty obvious that he was aware of Brainiac's fleet approaching, which is why he told Luthor that he lost everything.

Green lantern is one of the few people to stand a chance fighting superman but is for some reason always the comic relief or the punching bag to make a bad guy seem more dangerous then he is

The amount of effort put into this trailer is amazing! You can clearly tell that the heroes are utterly EXHAUSTED in this scene. The Flash is running on fumes, Wonder Woman is having a hard time bringing down a mook robot, Green Lantern is wearing a self-made cast for his likely broken arm, and Superman himself has RETREATED into space to recover. Judging by Supe's tattered clothes, disheveled hair, and blackened eyes, this has been no cakewalk for him, either, up to this point. This whole post-apocalyptic background, as well as a deteriorated appearance on behalf of the heroes suggests a long term battle, likely supported/caused by an army of Luthor drones and/or Black Adam's men. Meanwhile, the villains are acting appropriately enough for their characters. The ever wealthy Lex Luthor hired Deathstroke, which is very sensible, and sent him to fight WW after she was visibly weakened, possibly when the last done was destroyed. Luthor intentionally stayed back and let Black Adam and Joker do their thing, as his main goal was to lure out and finish off Superman. Luthor drove Superman away, most likely with the same Kryptonite he later used to kill Superman, Black Adam took advantage of Earth's weakened defenses, and The Joker took it upon his merry self to indulge in the experience. Beautiful. Just, beautiful.
