You can tell that this realization was traumatic for Ciel. He was laughing not because he was happy, but because he realized just how desperate humans are to protect things they care about, even at the expense of others. He realized he was doing the same thing as them and that in the end, nothing really came of it. All that struggle ultimately went to waste, but that determination at any cost is so human. Some people may not understand why he would laugh in this situation, but sometimes when you’ve been through so much nonsense that there’s nothing else you can do to change that situation, you cope by laughing. It’s happened to me, and I usually cry at the same time. But once you stop, you come back to your senses like Ciel did

I think people forget how dark this arc of Black Butler is. Multiple children were being kidnapped and abused. The circus troupe was forced to keep doing it or else the workhouse children would suffer. Meanwhile- they don’t know that their prosthetics were made out of dead children’s bones, and that their reason for committing crimes was all a lie. There was no workhouse anymore. All of those children were killed to continue the creation of the prosthetics. It’s quite twisted. Rewatching this after several years and I forgotten how sinister the ending to this arc was.

The Circus arc is so sad. I always felt sorry for Ciel here. Sometimes it's easy to forget that he's a child --- one who was severely traumatized and forced to face the ugliness of the world far too early in life. Adding onto that, instead of getting the time to heal from his trauma, he sold his soul out of anger and despair and now lives with the reality that he has no future... and nothing pushing him forward but hatred. Despite the series' regular moments of levity and humor, it's a tragic story.

I can feel so much pain through that laugh, I feel so bad for Ciel. He’s been though so much that he can’t even cry anymore. He’s already passed that point and now all he can do is laugh and mock at his own dirtiness as a human being. He knows that even if he fulfills his revenge, the people he lost and the happy moments he had with them won’t come back. But nonetheless he proceeds that path and tramples over others who would get in his way, even when knowing that it’s foolish.

Such a sad end but it has a poetic touch to it .Being free from the chains that held them down going together as a family leaving all pain and suffering behind

I loved this scene so much 1:00 is my favorite part when ciel tells Sebastian this is what humans are and Sebastian expression kills me everytime this scene was powerful yet sad at the same time.

Just finished season 3 of Black Butler. And oh boy was this an intense ride. This scene however, really did it for me. It wrapped up all of the events perfectly. I am impressed by the emotions felt after watching this scene. An stoic moment of the show. Good stuff.

I felt sorry for the circus troupe, even though the prosthetics were made out of children's bones they strived for happiness and care, this arc is really sinister and emotional at the ending where everyone dies in the circus troupe. But at the end of the day Ciel will always win Sebastian with by his side😀💯
