Congressional aid for disadvantaged farmers authorized as part of President Biden’s $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief package was supposed to give Black farmers $5 billion before getting challenged in the courts by white farmers
A group of Black farmers has now filed a class-action lawsuit for that $5 billion, claiming the federal government illegally broke a promise to pay off their debts.

This has been going on for years. In February of 2010 a settlement agreement was reached, which was contingent on appropriation by Congress, would’ve provided a total of $1.25 billion to African American farmers who suffered racial discrimination in USDA farm loan programs.

@@tvviewer4500 I’ve been unable to find a figure of the actual payout to date. Some Black farmers say they’ve never received their settlement. The settlement was intended to cover as many as 80,000 Black farmers.

@@chickenfarmer209 I have a tiny organic farm that offers cold tolerant vines and black raspberries. Even though licensed since 2011, I never received my business mail, business gmail, business calls except government mail. I also have prototypes of my invention, an accelerated plant grower based on N. Tesla principles, no showed interest even though it is very advanced and simplistic at the same time, USDA, SBIR, NYS, they do not seem to care really. I am a pre-senior and therefore probably less tolerant of flimflam.
