This bite size black history video looks at the Civil Rights Moments with a focus on the the Bristol Bus Boycott of 1963 which was part of the British Civil Rights Movement. When Guy Bailey was turned down for a job interview for a bus conductor job based on the colour of his skin; a group of 5 men decided to protest! The Bristol Bus Boycott was successful and on the 28th August 1963 the Bristol Omnibus Company declared integration in its employment policies. Furthermore Harold Wilson and the Labour Government subsequently passed the Race Relations Act of 1965 to ban discrimination in public places and employment.
