For generations we have been trying to warn the black youth; negative thoughts , negative music and negative behavior prevents the world from seeing us as we truly are; Honorable people. The problem is so large now, no one person can fix it. As this cycle of violence continues to run its course; those that remain alive have a duty to remember and prevent this from ever happening again. So as the songs say; Don't be afraid, and change is gonna come; know that this has happened in every culture and it is here now! The Italian community, Irish community, Jewish community and anyone else you can think of have gone thru it and now its our time. We have finally learned kids without education are a clear and present danger to the future of our race. So what happens next: Bare with me just one more minute as i explain how we turn this symbolic and iconic page of African American History in America. Each black community must select 9 people to convene a representative body of Black cultural authority. (Example; Thru PUBLIC competition within the black community, all carpenters living within the city of Birmingham compete for the Title of Master Carpenter.) As the carpenters show off their skills, the public will have an accurate view of the skills of various individuals and the price associated with their labor. Thru public Competition, all; 1. Carpenters 2. Electricians, 3.Plumbers, 4.Herbalist, 5. Chefs, 6.Artisans, 7.Inventors, 8.Historians, and 9. Philosophers: become real live heroes while saving and modernizing our communities. Our community will have visual proof of our greatness; our needs and ideas on improving ourselves. Special Note: Strict records of achievement must be kept; as the bi-annual competitions grow from city to city, state to state and inter-nationally. The New Message we are sending around the world is: we built Great Political Power from Ancestral Knowledge! Respectfully Submitted

its quite clear to any student of Psychology that Payton's comments is really an attempt to hide the fact that he isn't doing any kind of relevent music...so he try's to make up rules so he can draw in weak minded people who crave the security of a group...just so he can continue doing his sucky ass music and get money doing it...PEACE!!!!(Part 2)

Great interview. But I keep looking at that Doner kebab behind Branford.

True - but Nic's certainly not helping his "cause" by throwing a hissy fit every time someone disagrees with him or calls his music jazz. Check his Tweet history.

The last part of this interview highlights Branford's true artistry. Music is music. It exists everywhere, and everywhere there is something to learn. The problem with this interview is that it is a reflection of what Branford is talking about--it's obvious that she has no idea what he is refering to half the time.

They can call it whatever they want it's good music or it isn't. They might care but the audience doesn't.

What debate is there? Payton wants to call his music BAM - and Branford doesn't.

From the very first word of her introduction, this woman looks and sounds like she is arguing with Branford, LOL. Look at the resistance and resentment in her face!

..."and because I'm black therefore I'm a great Jazz musician." No that's not at all what Payton is saying and Branford is totally misrepresenting the idea behind BAM here. Granted, I don't agree with everything Payton says but I think Branford should least have enough respect for this debate to inform himself about some of the basic points before publically calling another brother out. Even the interviewer recognized how far off the mark he was which is why she asked "Is that what he's saying?"

Now a days everyone in the band room is a geek or some kind of pop fanatic on top of being ignorant in music.
