One of the coolest B&M inverted coasters in the world is an incredibly well themed terrain coaster, located in the African section of Phantasialand. So how does the ride hold up against other inverts, such as Nemesis? This is my full in depth look at the ride experience!

When people talk about Phantasialand they think Taron but I think this coaster looks the best. That lift in the building and the trenches...just wow

In my opinion, Black Mamba is even the best coaster at PHL... Last summer, I was at Phantasialand for the first time and my favourite coaster happened to be Black Mamba. I feel like its layout is far superior to the one from Taron (it's more diverse, not just focused on transitions). Most people visit Phantasialand just for Taron but imo, the hype for it is just too big. Taron is a VERY good coaster, but I went to PHL expecting it to totally blow me away and it just couldn't live up to the hype. So before visiting the park, definitely get your expectations right. The bigger surprises were how good Black Mamba is (although I normally don't like Inverts that much) and their Mine Train featuring great airtime. Those two coasters definitely need more praise!

@@themeparkchallengeofficial The Mine Train is so good!! Ride for every age, fun, amazing capacity (2000+ people per hour), not too thrilling but also defenatly not tame... i just love it and i wish it many more years to operate

@@clubstep8244 i don‘t think Colorado Adventure will leave anytime soon. When they built Chiapas, the made the decision to interact with CA quite a bit and i honestly think, it wouldn‘t be that easy to use the space CA occupies for another major area like Klugheim, so removing it wouldn‘t make that much sense

TGK personally I prefer Black Mamba, it just keeps going and I much prefer the theme over nemesis’, Black Mamba is in my top 5 but Nemesis is still in my top 10. They’re both great rides but there’s just something that puts it a bit ahead.

Rode both, nemesis is as rough as a bag of spanners, layout is good but needs re tracked and new trains to be bearable, rougher than a vekoma slc . Most overrated coaster in the UK by far. Black mamba was much smoother for me on a visit in 2016, and was a better coaster. phantasialand is 1000 times better than alton towers in terms of theming, maintainence etc

Seeing European parks, or even (my) local parks like Knott's makes me cringe every time I go to Six Flags Magic Mountain. "Your themeing is generic theme park."

Theming is everything on this ride. I rode BM about 3 times back then when it was brand new and although queue times were at roughly 30 min the queue design with all the optics and music was so awesome that I didn't mind the wait too much. I have booked my tickets for next week and as it seems the ride has been down due to maintenance for 5 days. So wish me luck maintenance will be done by next week🤞 F.L.Y. is the only ride which would be more painful to miss 🙈

Love how the last inversion is around half-way through the ride, and the second half is just turns and helices. Such a great layout.

I have to disagree with your opinion on the pacing. It's slightly slower in the end but the turns also get tighter, making especially the final helix one of the most forceful parts of the ride.

Before this gets any more messy, let me help out everyone who needs help...When you go to Disney, Cinderella is always played by a lady who is of Caucasian decent, Mulan is always played by a lady who is a lady who is of Asian decent and Tiana* is always played by a lady who is of African decent. To stay true to the theming, this park has people portraying “characters” who are true to the areas of the world they are themed after. If this wasn’t the case, I’m sure people would be up in arms about a bunch “white Germans” wearing African clothing, me included. I much prefer this...And thank you Taylor, as always, for pointing this out in the video because it makes me want to go to the park even more and for another phenomenal coaster review!

Nice Video, I went to Phantasialand last year. Me and my mates went on this first on the back row and it was amazing. I generally prefer back row to front row as you dont have to wait as long and also you get a little more force after an airtime hill, inversion or lift hill

Terrain coasters happens to be the most underrated, there should be more of them in the world to really get the theming feeling, if there would be a terrain coaster with airtime moments, that would be essential.

front row on the outer right or left (as you prefere) is a MUST on this ride! Also a darkness ride at the "Wintertraum" (winter season) makes it even more fun! :)

I rode this coaster in August and holy cow, this ride is better than Taron. It was hauling all the way to the end and as of today, it's in my Top 3. This ride is incredible and it just doesn't get enough credit. Everyone be talking about the other Phantasialand coasters like Taron and F.L.Y, but wow this ride is so good.

Black Mamba is my favorite coaster, with Phantasialand being my home park. One thing I realized is that during the first two seasons, it was silky smooth in every seat, while now its a bit rattly in the back. Doesn't matter to me, as first row = best row, but some might not like that. Still as intense as ever. I love that Taron is as good as it is, as it pulls crowds away from this masterpiece ^^. (I like Taron, too, but Mamba is my absolute favorite)

Something I'm curious about. How does this and Nemesis compare to Montu? I get it that those two are better themed, but all three do the same thing, repeated dives into trenches. The main thing, from my understanding, is that Montu has length and height, this has length and closeness to ground, and Nemesis has closeness to ground has intensity and closeness to ground.

I'm just sad Black Mamba is the only ride in the Africa section. There were rumours back in 2007 about a darkride like Indiana Jones but unforunately it never came. The park decided to built Matamba instead which is just as cool because the hotel serves as a nice backdrop for the section.

My home park! I visit it atleast 3 times a year. They are world class at theming, only Disney can compare to Phantasialand, when it comes to theming.

You seem to be a bit generous here with your rating. Yes, it is quite amazing at its flying thru the buildings and trenches. But, as you mentioned - after the last inversion, its absolute “meh” to me. It’s like they ran out of ideas, and decided to make it haphazardly meander back to the station. (For comparison, I’ve ridden around 30x) First 2/3 of the ride - 10 (Like Nemesis) Last 1/3 of the ride - 4 (Like Iron Dragon) Visually - 10 Ride experience - 8.5 That’s my 2 cents.

I think that's a fair rating. You do bring up some good points. But again, I've only ridden it 3 times, so I have nowhere near as much experience riding it as you do.

I would rate the ride experience even lower, more in the 7.5 to 8 ballpark. If it where as intense in the last third as other B&M Inverts are I would rate it higher, but that last part could easily be from a Family Invert. If it wasn't for the insane Theming Black Mamba wouldn't be anything special anyway. I honestly prefer the ugly piece of trash looking Monster at Walygator over the Black Mamba in terms of ride experience any day.

I really liked BM, and wanted to like it more - That first 2/3 AND the theming is what makes it amazing to me. But that ending.... As for Monster, I rode it as Orochi at Expoland in Japan. Yeah, it’s a good ride. It’s a clone of Raptor at CP.

Taron took alot of attention away from Black Mamba so if i have an hour left and get to choose between 1-2 rides on taron or 6-9 on the Mamba im defenetly going with the snake

You state this is in your top 3 inverts, just what is your top 3-5 inverts? Montu? Afterburn? Katun? Nemesis? Black Mamba? And how do these fit into the Top 25? Keep up the good work on the videos!

Oh yeah, the music when the train dispatches always gets my blood pumping. And yeah, the employees in the African section are always dark skinned. Most of the employees in China are asian too. Also, the front row also get's water squirted on them in the second (iirc) helix.

Am I the only one who thinks the GCI dueling hybrid coaster could fit in the spot of Rip Roarin Rapids, I know they won’t get a coaster till like 2023 and beyond but I think it would be perfect at Carowinds
