Black Myth: Wukong is an upcoming action role-playing game by Chinese indie developer Game Science, based on the classical 16th-century Chinese novel Journey to the West. The game has been described as Souls-like. The player controls a monkey with an uncanny resemblance to the titular character referred to in the game as "the Destined One" to fight through an assortment of enemies, with abilities to transform into flying insects or a giant monster.

Brother…the enemies aren’t even reacting to the hits/damage. They’re just taking it until the health triggers a cutscene. That’s not fulfilling at all and it’s gonna learn a valuable lesson soon as people start playing it and realizing it

looks amazing, my only complaint is that there is not animations for when enemies take damage. makes fighting feel a bit empty and less impactful. hopefully this is changed upon full release

I didn’t notice that till this. But maybe it’s supposed to be the games way of learning attack patterns and striking during the off periods rather then going for a stun or completely beating an opponent.

You have to see more footage the enemies react to being hit but not when it's just regular light attacks watch him fighting the electric dragon he lands a charged up power pole hit right on the dragons head knocks it right out the sky.

Watch the video where he fights multiple enemies that are his own size. They react to light attacks. The big ones only react to heavy attacks which makes sense. Imagine hitting a rhino with a staff.. That animal wouldn't be bothered that much. Anyways, if you want realism, go buy Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 when it's out 😅

It just keep looking better and better the closer we get to release. This might be the surprise hit of the year. This might even beat out lies of P as the best souls-like not made by FROM. I'm rooting for these guys, they really put a lot of work into this game. You can tell whoever made this really cares about making good games. I'm really excited to see the finished product and will deff be checking this out. I've been waiting for this ever since the very first reveal trailer like 4 years ago. The wait is almost over!!!

这游戏也就在国内卖一卖情怀，在国际市场上的评价绝对高不了。最多Metacritic80分左右。主要是这游戏即视感太强。没有创新性，只有画面是顶级的。

@@6lryu332 基本同意，这个团队肉眼可见的把精力放在了场景上，但这个东西没有太大技术含量，堆人堆钱就堆出来了。同时西游题材在海外应该没有太大影响力，不过国际市场上这种等级的游戏也没有那么多。。。接下来就看他们怎么炒了，现在总是放视频，与实际体验会差不少

This has only come onto my radar about a week ago and I'm completely obsessed. I love the Monkey King and Chinese mythology in general. I can't believe this went over my head! This can instantly take my money once pre-orders are live! This year has been stacked for gaming! 关卡设计还是令人担忧，演示里都是大平面地图放几个小怪，走一走就到boss战了。那么灵活的悟空在关卡中能以怎样的灵活度推图，能不能跳下矮悬崖？能不能用长棍子支起自己到更高的地方，演示里变化成飞虫的能力在什么情况下才能使用...这方面的game play在演示中还没有体现。但结合目前透露的体量，又觉得这应该不成问题...

So it's clear this game will succeed and make them well over half a billion. Hoping there will be a sequel and they do the thing nobody has done, continue the story AFTER journey to the west. After he finds the scriptures and after he journeys west, can't wait to play this game, hoping it has 72 transformations and a cloud vehicle.

this story is not the original journey to the west story as the mc is not the actual Wukong. so in a sense this is a sequel.

"Journey to the west" is a comedy drama. It was broadcasted in Mainland China like every Chinese New Year. I think a comedy followed the mood of Souls series is weird. I am suripsed why many Chinese would recall their childhood memory of this game.

The hard hits send enemies flying in this game the regular hits don’t because the enemies are huge it wouldn’t make sense for the normal attack to send the enemies to the moon

Dont get me wrong i like Elden Ring and the Dark souls series, ive completed all of them. But since i played Sekiro, Bloodborne and other games like Wo long per example, fast pace combat + soulslike formula is really the way to go for me. Thats why im excited about Wukong.

Have you played Nioh 2? Personally I reckon it still has the best combat system as well as the best Ng+, ++, +++ and ++++ in this genre.

Many comments are complaining about the hit reacts. Unlike in God of War, there seems no dramatic finishing moves in this game. Game Science said that this is purely due to technical limitations.

The amount of creatures they have made is pretty impressive. Could combat use more hit stop? Probably, but I'll just keep in mind just about damn near everything would be lucky to not just be a blood splat after getting hit by Sun with that rod.

@@maxwaver777 that’s what people wanna see can’t expect it to be just a straight run to the boss. There has to be level ups to use certain powers he uses. And since we’re seeing hit numbers there must be stats for certain play styles we can lean too. That is my assumption but we don’t know till we’re closer to release date. They’re getting feedback from the population and see what is pleasing

The main concern here is the feel. The graphics, world, etc look great, but the make or break for any souls like is the feeling. Like the dodge, attack windows, etc
