As someone who've watched and read "Journey to the West". This is nostalgic in a way. Oh, in this game. You play as a clone of Wukong, not the real one because in another trailer, he showed up in golden armor.

This happens when a very hard working devs represents their culture right. Everything from physics, graphic, music, world, demons are like piece of art. It is why this type of representation is so precious to global community.

I’m having difficulty believing this game is real because it looks absolutely mesmerizing.

The look of the dragon is one thing but the physics of the dragon is incredible. All of its attacks make sense. It has real weight to it, and that's what's getting me interested :o

The style and animation of the enemies in this game are so outstanding

Kudos for putting a real playthrough in trailer, unlike most developers only showcasing flawless no hit runs they actually show getting hit and taking damage, respect.

Even if this doesn't represent the final look of the game, if it's ANYWHERE NEAR what this looks like, I'm a happy individual.

Love how at 5:06 you smack the guy and he starts begging for mercy and then outta nowhere does a furiously fast strike at you. Just full of character, love details like that

After hundred years this story has been with us, its finally presented with amazing original ancients chinese arts, myths, cultures, musics, speech, environments, gods, creatures, vibes and even places (many of the places here are the real ones in china sites). that song in the end give me goosebumps. It's a cover version of the theme song in Journey to the west 1986. Every East Asian kid born in the 80s and 90s knows this song.

Fun fact: the trailer ends with a song called "敢问路在何方" , deliberately chosen by the developers because it was the ending theme for episodes of 1986 version Journey to the West TV series. Pretty much any Chinese person born between 1970 to 2000s would instantly recognize it and feel nostalgic. The developers went to the trouble of getting official state approval to use both the opening and ending them to the TV series because they know their market.

When you dodge at the very last second, you can see an after image of Wukong just managing to get out of the way. Awesome detail and it’ll make perfect dodging super rewarding. Absolutely incredible.

Something most people will miss unless you’re familiar with Journey to the West story, during this trailer the narrator and the ending scene hint at the ‘Small West’ part of the story seems to play a major part in this. Including the ‘fake’ Buddha, as well as the golden cymbals at the very last scene that traps Wukong in the original story until they could find help from the heavenly soldiers, drilling thru the cymbals. Cool bit of lore

There is one mistake in the intro of this video: Wukong is not set in the 16th Century. The novel Journey to the West was written in the 16th Century and the story is set in the 7th Century, Tang Dynasty.

One is your future, another meaning refers to the future Budda Miler(The next generation of leaders) In the original story, one of Miler's attendant who create a lot of trouble for WuKong and set a temple called Small LeiYinSi. This is so bald and outrageous since it's open challenging the real Budda. But since his master is so powerful and set to be the next leader, it seems there's not so much punnishment. Or it can be seen as an obstlacle need to be set for the journey. There's just so much story after this and this scene here is just giving you so much to wonder what's next.
