Fascinating! My family is Krio from Sierra Leone but my grandfather would often talk about his ancestors from Nova Scotia. My favourite story is that of George Washington, slave to the much more famous George Washington who joined the black loyalists and then later went to Sierra Leone and became a founding father of the country!

The more I learn about history, the more I realise why the Romans were so adamant about their law. If you pass an appropriately vague law you can pretty much do anything you want from that point on without justifying yourself every time you do something questionable. In time it gets normalised and is not questioned at all

@@schrodingersmooseAh, cool. I was excited to see a video about Nova Scotia because that's where I was born and raised. I lived near Preston, which is where a lot of the Black Loyalists settled.

@@schrodingersmoose You DO realize there are multigenerational blacks in Quebec too...correct? They date at least as far back as Nova Scotia blacks - perhaps even further back?

I've been to Nova Scotia, lovely place. I didn't hear much about the historical black population there, but did hear about the French who where expelled by the British down to Louisiana and became the Cajuns (Acadians), maybe would make for an interesting video.

Are there any particular sites in Nova Scotia that you would recommend visiting?

Considering the lack of resources provided to this community, there aren't many grandiose sights, but a few monuments and places of significance. Firstly there's the black cultural centre (BCC) for Nova Scotia Museum which is very informative and the people are always happy to talk about their history. There's also the First Cornwallis Baptist church which is place of significance. If you want to know about more places, I recommend visiting the BCC website.

@@schrodingersmoose Amazing! I feel like their impact tends to be forgotten or badly researched. I wish you all the luck! From their partaking of the conquest of England from the Celtic peoples (a bit minor) and how they kept revolting against the Frankish Empire, staying around under the HRE for another couple of hundreds of years as the Frisian States under the Frisian Freedom agreement.
