Black Panther is officially out in theaters in most cities. The film from Disney and Marvel stars Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Letitia Wright, Daniel Kaluuya, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman and Andy Serkis. Ever since the first images and trailers were released, the hype for this film has been incredible. The opening weekend box office predictions started out at under $100 million but have subsequently jumped to over $170 million. This is officially a phenomenon. The film focuses on T’Challa, who after the death of his father, the King of Wakanda, returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation to succeed to the throne and take his rightful place as king.
Kristian Harloff, Dennis Tzeng, Perri Nemiroff and RB3 are here to give you their SPOILER filled thoughts about the film. They explore the acting, direction, cinematography, music and costumes in the film. They also give their opinions on the script and the plot points throughout the movie. The technology gets touched on as well as the incredible action scenes and the bad ass Dora Milaje. The panel also offers you some insight on how the movie made them feel and how much it moved them. Plenty of conversation to be had between these four about this movie. Let us know what you thought about the movie and what our panelists had to say about the film in the Comments section below. djx2clpu4 that scene with N'Jadaka that I quoted was at the end of the movie. Even though you are not interested in it. I don't want to give anything not to spoil for anyone else. I thought was a great movie. N'Jadaka is a great villain. But that's my opinion.

Killmonger was never trying to take shortcuts. He wanted a legitimate fight for the throne. No weapons- no suits needed. His WILL and DRIVE were his weapons. He never, ever tried to cheat the system. He didn't just show up at WAKANDA w/ his key, he proved his worth by dragging a body to the door! This character is fucking awesome!

Totally agree his plan was meticulous to the tee. He kept all the focus on Klaw to draw out the wakandans and then used the disarray he caused within wakanda to his advantage to get the throne. People who are saying he disappeared for half the movie or wanted more of him don’t realize that sometimes too much can be a bad and also don’t understand the intricacies of his plan. I thought they developed him perfectly, showed that he was willing to kill any and everyone in his way so for the first time in a while you felt like anyone could have died at the end of the movie there (except black panther) and on top of all that you could sympathize with his perspective because due to his father he was exiled. As T’Challa said, his father and those decisions to remain isolated created him so they were now dealing with those consequences.

Revan 1313 that's why i said "the best villain" VILLAIN. I didn't say HERO, there's a difference between best VILLAIN and best HERO. Got it? Besides, Europe committed numerous atrocities in South America, Asia, Africa, and Oceania. That's Killmonger's motivation. He wanted revenge and kill or enslave them all. Making him a great villain. But what did Black Panther said, it is not the right way. That's why they opened Wakanda to the world and share their knowledge so that they can help those who cannot defend themselves.

Agreed he was the character i enjoyed watching most on The screen. But to be honest, I can't say he had most time to develop compared to vulture or loki. I feel sad that we Only say him first 10 minutes then he dissapears for 30 - 40 minutes. I wish he had even more time, but thats probably because i was rooting for Killmonger!

I really wanna see a scene in Infinity War were Tony and Bruce are working on upgrading the Hulk Buster and they're struggling with something. Shuri turns up and Tony sort of mocks her, like talks down to her. Then she just goes up and fixes the Hulk Buster in like 2 seconds and then just walks off in like a mic drop moment

Though he was entertaining M'baku comes off as frustrated & a bit bitter with the royal family. Which to me makes no sense. The Jabari tribe made the decision along time ago to exclude themselves from the nation, even though they lived in Wakonda. To me it was a natural reaction for the other tribes to slowly cutback communications with the Jabari tribe. It's no different than when a friend exludes him/herself from various outtings with other friends. Resulting in the other friends slowly stopping communications.

The part you are talking about is when T'Challa brings Ross BACK to Wakanda to be healed and he learns about the Wakanda RnD division inside the Vibranium mine. To me I remember these moments for 2 reasons: 1. The MOMENT he chose to bring an Outsider to Wakanda, let alone a SPY outsider, I was thinking "Oh boy....there are gonna be some really Pissed off councilors back home. How is he going to explain this?" and JUST as I was thinking that, the FILM ADDRESSES that SAME dilema. I was blown away by well thought out the plot was. and 2. The RnD lab being in the Vibranium mine made a LOT of sense, and I also learnt that sonic emissions can Indeed dampen out the effects of Vibranium, i.e. it DOES have a weakness! Also learnt that Vibranium is incredibly volatile in its raw state and cannot be transported at high speeds in such a form. Hence I never found these scenes to be forgettable, because they were important for building the world of Wakanda.

What’s interesting about killmonger and Loki are they almost have a similar storyline. If killmonger was brought in, he would have been the jealous cousin who would have pulled the Loki role so what they did was perfect because it was getting to see what would have happened otherwise. I think we can see in both cases strong willed characters like this would eventually turn out of jealousy and envy

I'm glad Marvel Studios took the brutal route with Killmonger in this movie. If they tried to make another Loki, it would have ruined T'Challa's character arch. Erik was a Wakandan left behind by T'Chaka. It was this realization that made T'Challa call-out the injustice and acknowledge the truth as he did with Zemo in 'Civil War'

White wolf is the adopted white son of T'Chaka and step brother of T'Challa. He is a villian at first due to his jealousy towards Black Panther and because of him being white and ostracized because of it. He later does something to earn the full trust and respect of the Wakandan people and becomes chief of Wakanda police. He is currently a hero. His name is Hunter!

Raghu Seetharaman It has nothing to do with race. It is a more fitting character progression for Bucky to become Cap. Aside from the visual foreshadowing of Bucky wielding Cap's shield in every movie, it would round out a great redemption arc of Bucky taking care of Steve, then becoming a bad guy and eventually redeeming himself by carrying on Steve's legacy. Falcon has only known Steve for a couple of years whereas Bucky is his oldest friend. Not everything is a race issue.

Post 'Cap America: Civil War': one week later is the funeral/crowning/challenge established in 'Black Panther' Meanwhile, there was 'Ragnarok' and 'Guardians of the Galaxy V2'. So, for Earthly characters, my guess would be before Spider-Man: Homecoming events were occurring. Wakanda going public is going to unify the Cosmic and Earthly MCU

You are correct about everything you said but letting you know in the timeline that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 takes place in 2014, 6 months after the 1st Film. The movie starts in 1980 with Ego and Meredith and then cuts to the Guardians 34 years later which is 2014. One of the 5 mid credits scene shows a Teenage Groot which means that particular scene takes place closer to Avengers: Infinity War.

As much as I enjoy closing credits scenes, I am glad that there were only 2 in Black Panther. Being only two scenes, gave them deeper meaning than some other Marvel films. I felt that the Bucky scene was touching. The look on his face when he said thank you to Shuri was touching. It reminded me of the relief and the peace that one feels after being very sick for a very long time. The 5 Guardian extra scenes were almost too much of a good thing. As usual.the Stan Lee cameo was fun (placed early in this movie).

i feel like Black Panther is THE movie to show black kids/ black people to strive for and emulate, not just blacks in America but blacks EVERYWHERE. this is the level that a black person / the black community can achieve if they get their shit together and be consistent about it. yeah sure its a superhero movie but certainly its a much better example to emulate than whoever popular black artists is in the airwaves or on tv. its what i call the Superman effect -- a fictional person true, but its a figure that calls us to be the best version of ourselves.

The problem I had with Shuri (and most smart people in the MCU) Is that they tell us she is super smart, but we never actually see it. We see her lab with a bunch of cool things and we are told she made all of them but we never actually see her process. Whereas the entire first Iron Man movie is about him tinkering and becoming Iron Man, we see his creative process so we buy that he is a smart guy. I get it, Tony Stark is a main character, so the movie can devote more time to him. But to come out and make a claim that Shuri is smarter than Tony and not really sell it doesn't sit well with me. Loved her overall though.

There was no time for it in this movie but come on it’s not hard to believe, with the tech they had look what they got to work with since the beginning. I’m sure we will get great scenes of it in Infinity war

+Mr. Manager I concur. It's fine if you're the best at something but actually prove it by showing it. Like even the joke about Hulk being the strongest Avenger, we have reason to believe that by the feats we saw him do over several movies. Most obvious being his one punch in Avengers. If CM is indeed more powerful then just show it, don't talk about it.

You addressed your own concern. This isn't an MCU thing, it's a secondary character trope in MOST films. If you're not a main protagonist then time is not a luxury to afford a fully fleshed out backstory. Best that can be done is show secondary characters tinkering with gadgets.

One small correction... The actor who played a young Forest Whitaker in the past scenes is named Denzel Whitaker. He is in fact not related to Forest Whitaker at all. You may remember him from films like "the Great Debaters", & "Training Day" in the infamous fake warrant scene. Ironically and both of those roles he played opposite of Denzel Washington, and his father had also named him after Denzel.
