A few words from a licensed and insured boat transporter both over land and by water. 1. I am responsible for everything once that boat touches my trailer or I take possession of the boat at the dock for in water transport as reflected in the docs that are signed by owner or marina for my company to transport. 2. If I am asked to splash a boat off my trailer or am transporting on owners trailer and splash I am responsible for that vessel until it is safely moored to dock and owner or marina has inspected said vessel and my paperwork is signed, that means I am responsible for making sure vessel is water tight before launch and vessel does not come off my or owners trailer until I have inspected the hull for incoming water. 3. Included in my paperwork to owner is a copy of my insurance that covers everything up to $5 million including total lose, if a vessel is deemed more than said insurance a rider and a bond is secured for said vessel in the amount of vessels worth. I have been transporting boats for almost 40 years and have been boating for quite a bit longer, in my opinion the clown that dropped this in the water and left was not a transporter but a googan, you do not leave anybody’s vessel sitting at the dock! The owner of this vessel has every right to go after this transporter as he is totally responsible for vessel until owner arrived. Please take heed of this video and anyone who is thinking of hiring a boat transporter it takes 5 minutes to pull up DOT website and check to see if transporter is in fact DOT licensed and insured and if it is in water transport it takes 5 minutes to pull up Coast Guard web site and make sure transporter is a licensed USCG captain and insured to transport and always get paperwork before you hand over your baby. My respect goes to Danny as he is a hard working gentleman as in it for the customer not himself, if I have any customers that need help in this area I will definitely recommend Danny. Thank you Alfred for all you do and the time you take to bring us these videos.

If it was my boat, there would have been an agreement for me to be there in person at a mutually conveinient time as the boat is placed in the water. Hard to trust anyone to handle something so valuable. The person who delivered the boat may have been hired the day before and may not know anything about boats, drain plugs or whatever. In the 80s where Black Point opened into Biscayne Bay there was the frame of a cabin cruiser that had been run aground and burned. Just the charred frame was visible. My cousin Tommy said, "Smugglers." Chased by coastguard they ran aground and set fire to the evidence, then waded ashore.

Someone told me once that GWs boats are practically unsinkable. I'm glad that one made it. And that's going to be my first choice when I get my boat this year. With a single 300 Yamaha of course.

Why would the boat mover have the drain plug ? Why would the owner not ensure HIS boat was seaworthy? Responsibility for the vessel is solely on the master. If the owner said to splash the boat this is an expensive lesson to always inspect every component before putting to sea. I put the plug in myself and the first thing I do every time is open the hatch and ensure I’m leak free. Then visually inspect each through hull fitting and hoses. Then activate every pump and inspect the lines for leaks. Every time. This takes a grand total of about one minute to prevent this or a similar incident. I don’t mind sharing this information because Danny said he does not want to do any more bloop bloops.

FYI...Grady White started using Greenwood XL in their boats just prior to year 2000 so there is much less concern for any wood rot. Usually the wood that rots in the boats is Transom or Stringers, but not the panels that are inside a console area as an example unless someone puts a screw in without sealing. Even then the Greenwood should hold up way better. I think the newer models are now wood free, but I am not 100% sure on that.

I’m surprised that the owner did not buy delivery insurance, that drivers truck insurance should cover this, unless he didn’t have insurance and was driving illegally! His ICC number should be on the info from the boat company! Which will have his truck insurance info. That driver caused this damage is just like he hit that boat with another boat!

What about all the wires fuses plugs ect on the actual engine that was underwater? Grady doesn't use wood anymore. I know 1 guy insurance company pickled the motor 5 years no problem other guy nothing but problems I wouldn't keep it myself because I wouldn't go 40 miles off shore with a maybe! With all due respect the customer may have told the transporter to launch the boat and tie it up. It's not the transporters job to ensure that the drain plugs are in place.
