Many ancient Southwestern potters used iron oxide to make black designs on pottery. This video shows my attempt to reduce iron on pottery to make black designs. Follow along as I paint my experimental pot with 9 kinds of iron paint then fire in an outdoor reduction fire. What will the result be? What can be learned for future reduction firings?
