Towards the end of the book of Mormon. It talks about the.Lamanites destroying the Nephites . And that happened at 1000 A.D.. And they continued to hunt down the Nephites remnants for sometime there after. So it was two nations. Fighting each other. Eventually, the Lamanites victorious. we know them as Native Americans. Read the book of Mormon. It fits perfectly with what you were finding. Thank you.

It's been proven that the Egyptians were in the Grand Canyon. It's also been proven the Chinese came into the southwest and the Vikings were here That maybe when Warfare you speak of. People are going to critisize me for these thought but. These facts have been hidden from us ,for some unknown reason.

@AncientPottery as soon as they found Egyptian artwork and artifacts in the Grand Canyon. They sealed the cave. I thought we all lived o. This earth together , but when I find that so much is being suppressed for the common man I get so mad. Just like Giants ,they found skeletons of giants . These were published in newspapers .at the turn of the century the Smithsonian has the . But when you bring up facts they say they know nothing about it . Yes certain archeologist did discover The Egyptians artifacts and Vikings and Chinese but the mainstream archeologists won't agree with them. New things are found all the time but you will never hear about it , because it's being suppressed. It sucks . We should be in the loop we should be told these things . I researched for years and .learned a lot throughout my years I am 76 yrs old , and far from stupid . Or someone who makes up stories. These are facts. Research them yourself.

We do know. The elders have talked about the annihilation of the Anasazi for hundreds of years. There are zero descendants of the Anasazi. They were wiped out and every shard of evidence destroyed. The Anasazi were cannibals, slave traders and practiced human sacrifice on a regular basis. Chaco canyon was like a meat processing plant. They were active for 300 years - came from the north and started taking prisoners and slaves almost immediately. People had to hide in cliffs. Until they revolted in about 1250 and wiped out the anasazi. Then they scattered, moving back down to the lowlands. Going back to where they were kidnapped from. Slaves built the beautiful dwellings we see today. Driven by a mysterious elitist group who practiced evil on various levels.

Great vidio, wondered way they left myself. If you look at what happens you kill off the ants in your house say they are all gone then the next colony move in in a week or so. Same old nests of ants but noticeable difference in ant. Not 2 or 3hundered years later being colonized. Somthing bigger happened there. Thanks for the morning coffee...

There is one contraversial archaeologist with a potentially suspect theory based on a single skeleton found in Chaco Canyon showing evidence of filed teeth (teeth made to look like fangs). The only known peoples to practice that were the Aztecs. His theory is that an Aztec royal house, its contingent of warriors and common peoples came from Teotihuacan and settled in Chaco Canyon. As practitioners of human sacrifice and cannibalism, bands of Aztec warrior marauders preying on the Ancient Puebloan peoples forced them to first build cliff-dwellings to escape the Aztec predations, eventually forcing them out the region. I don't claim to rely on the theory, and it's especially corrosive to Ancient Pueblo culture, though it could be a possible answer to your dilema.

This won't help you or this discussion, but it does help me. I'm an author, game designer, illustrator and publisher, currently developed a fantasy setting based on real world Earth in 1879, using actual history, historic figures and places to create an immersive setting. Because of a family trip to California by car from Illinois where I visited Mesa Verde, Tombstone Arizona, visited a half dozen ghost towns in Arizona, thus the desert Southwest has a special allure for me. I'm combining Masonic conspiracy theory where the Templars brought the Arc of the Covenant and other powerful arcane devices to hide from civilization in the Pre-Columbian new world, including Oak Island into the story, as well as suspected Templar sites in the desert Southwest. These items were placed in hidden caches across the land. By 1879, as the west is being settled, the Masonic Knights Templar, the legacy to the original Templars seek to recover items buried centuries earlier with the intent to move them to Antarctica, further away from civilization. Close proximity to the hidden sites, handling or using such arcane devices cause corruptions comparable to infestistation/transformation to aberrant beings similar to Cthulhu lore. Because I've created 3D illustrations of kivas, cliff-dwelling sites and extensive use of ancestral peoples in the lore your emphasis on the Great Calamity as you call it fits into my storyline well. Sometime in the late 14th century (right before 1400 AD) is the time the Knights Templar are said to have come to the desert Southwest with their corrupt cache of arcane devices now hidden across this region. The existence of these powerful artifacts are what forced the people of the region out. Aberrant energies, aberrant monstrosities, transformations of the local wildlife, the dead walking again, the presence of the Templar buried artifacts twisted the land and it's people, so the people left. This makes a nice inclusion to my fiction...

The Navajo speak of the Anasazi as a people who came from the south and enslaved a lot of the pueblo and cave dwellers, around 1400 they were judged and their empire fell along with their slave/trade route. The people who were enslaved left the regions breaking and destroying pottery and buildings they were forced to build and create as these items had become "dark". There's evidence of cannibalism at Choco Canyon for example. The Navajo claim they moved north and assimilated into Navajo tribes and surrounding tribes never to fully return to the South. The largest return we see is the Apaches who raided Mexican settlements, there are still some smaller communities, but a lot of them were moved here and this was not their initial tribal homeland, well as much as anyone can call a homeland, every civilization conquers and takes over another. Just like Phoenix rose from the ashes of the irrigation systems the Hohokham established.

I almost feel like I am steeling because of the knowledge that I am gaining. I watch each video, go out and make mistakes, then watch the video again and see where I neglected some of the information. I have broken a lot of things. I am finally getting more confident in my firings and clay bodies. I’m not breaking, but I seem to be under firing. At this rate, I should be good to go in a few months 🤣. I have three different colors of clay on our generational land. The whole family is patiently waiting for me to get it right so I can provide real dishes. We really love our land and this is a way that they can all have a piece of home around the world. My Marine son actually requested dirt from home while on deployment. This will be a way that I can legally provide our dirt.

I think entirely reduced ceramics can be achieved only in a kiln, so even the section of the sherds will be dark, like in many Roman dark wares. Otherwise, the reduction is mostly achieved on the exterior, from when the fire is covered up, but the inside of the section remains somewhat oxydised. I guess "reduced" in the case of south-western pottery is only on the exterior if no kilns were used and the section would present a succession of colours. For Martinez I would say they are both smudged and "reduced", as the combination of the two gives the most shiny result.

@@AncientPottery Well, i did all the water stuff, let it set for two minutes, poor the brown liquid in another bucket while leaving the sand at the bottom. Then i let it drain from a pillow case. It's grey and soapy feeling when wet. Comparing it to the sand that was left behind it's definitely a different texture. Would adding sand to it help it keep its shape? or is sand mostly for the firing process.

Andy, I'm wondering if you have ever tried or considered using an oily plant resin in a solvent like ISO alcohol, as an organic paint? And how long is too long to wait between applying the white slip, and painting onto it? I have a pot I made a few months ago that is bone dry that I never got around to painting, and I have this organic resin that I could dissolve in alcohol for a paint. Theoretically it should work

Because they have not yet been mentioned, I would like to bring the Aztec in as a possible war-like group. They were only "recently" in the valley of Mexico at the time of the conquest and were from "the North". They could have been either a survivor group of the former agriculture group that turned to war for survival or the cause of the AZ 1400 destruction seeking more plunder in the valley of Mexico. One would think if the latter is the case, they would have discovered a new waring technique, of which we are not aware (but possible).
