In real life Capt. Rackham was Capt. Vane's quartermaster and Capt. Vane was voted off his ship for cowardice and Calico Jack Rackham was voted captain.

Rackham was also thought to be a pretty weasely coward of a man and it wasnt until he took up with Anne Bonny, the brains of the operation, that he became a famous pirate. Ann visited him in prison before he was hanged and said something like "You refused to fight like a man, now you'll hang like a dog." She was spared the noose because she was pregnant and was later released.

The second half of the season is amazing. Well, everything is from this point on, but it was around these episodes I realized this was definitly one of my absolute favourite shows.

I first saw him as Luther from The Umbrella Academy. Now I can only see Billy as a gorilla in that show XD

10... almost like Ramsey and his 20 men. It’s torturous knowing what’s coming but holding back so as to not spoil you guys... All I can say is the remaining episodes are ridiculously entertaining, especially 8-10. Thrilling stuff 😉

I love how you guys dive into the historical notes of the series... Someone succinctly summarized this series: “it’s history adjacent.” Yes, it’s fictional but it draws on a lot of real history, even more so than Game of Thrones. In others words, GoT is more fictional than Black Sails.

TheSilk I get that but Black sails is based in real life setting with a few fictional characters, while GoT is in a completely different world. I thought it was just an odd comment

If anything, Black Sails should be compared to Vikings with regards to historically accurate

GoT is completely fictional. It may be realistic but it is not real.
