In the psychological thriller "Black Swan," director Darren Aronofsky used a unique method to enhance the tension between the two lead actresses, Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis. Portman recently revealed that Aronofsky would try to create a competitive environment on set, subtly pitting the actresses against each other. He would keep them separated during filming and send them intimidating text messages about each other's performances that day. However, Kunis has since explained that their pre-existing friendship proved to be too strong for Aronofsky's methods to have much effect. Instead of fostering a sense of rivalry, the actresses would react to each other's successes with supportive congratulations, ultimately making their on-screen chemistry all the more convincing. #shorts #blackswan #didyouknow #moviefacts #moviedetails #natalieportman

That’s actually terrible on the directors part. If you choose the the right actresses which they did there’s no need to create a weird competitive environment that could have backfired.

i hate when directors get too personal they r actors it's literally their job to behave according to script if they can't mold themselves without an external force then they aren't actors directors don't need to push actors to make it real

@@Vor567tezI agree with you but it is worth saying that there are some roles that 95% of the population would need help getting into even the best of actors and actresses. The issue really is that some directors decide that the role is important enough to inflict actual mental or physical harm on their actors and actresses to get it right when it’s really not worth it to ruin a person for the sake of art. Leo DiCaprio went through some horrible things to get into the mind and body of someone who has to almost die in the wilderness and fight a bear to death. It was a groundbreaking movie but it was too far. It’s not that uncommon and honestly more common in male actors

Another fact: One of the inspirations for this film is the Satoshi Kon original movie 'Perfect Blue', one of the greatest movies I've seen by far x

Wow. That’s a spectacularly crappy way to treat his lead actresses. The actor playing the director must have had an easy job. All he had to do was copy that guy. Thank god they were able to give outstanding performances despite the creepy environment they had to work in. It’s a testament to their abilities as actresses and their strength of character that they succeeded despite him.

So he clearly forgot they were *actors* and could therefore *act* out a rivalry. Unlike some of their male counterparts, women can still give brilliant performances while remaining decent, sane human beings.

I just saw Mila Kunis' career break down the other day and she had nothing but great things to say about Natalie Portman's professionalism when it came down to this movie. She was delighted to be on set together. I'm glad his plan didn't go as he expected.
