Wow Michelle, I never knew this song was about Elvis, when I read the lyrics I can see it definitely is though. The lyrics are so profound and the poignancy is even more significant knowing what we now about Elvis from his humble beginnings to his tumultuous ascent to super stardom and beyond. The song itself, has that bluesy laid back country feel to it, very befitting to Elvis and his legacy. Over the years I've heard it many times but from now on when I hear it again, I'll definitely be listening to it in a very different light. The words Black Velvet though, I personally think they take on a new meaning of their own. What is interesting about the origin of this song was the song writers actually went to Graceland and came back and wrote it based on their experience while being there.

Michelle, are you familiar with a couple of novelty songs about Elvis? One is called 'My Baby's Crazy 'Bout Elvis' by Billy Boyle and the other is 'My Boy Elvis' by Janis Martin. These are are pretty unusual and rare.

I read or heard somewhere something along the lines of if you were poor in the south then you were uncomfortably hot. Got me thinking if that was the reason Elvis liked his rooms cold? Tom Jones recorded ”With Theese Hands” and said that it was Elvis who presented that song to him. Do you know if Elvis also recorded it? I have looked around but can’t find anything.
