The best place to find Elvis tribute songs is on the Elvis Mania cd series...loads of obscure ones from the 50s but they go up to the 90s. Eddie Cochran did a great job mimicking Elvis on The Holly Twins “All I Want For Christmas Is Elvis” as well as providing great lead guitar on the same track...

Wow Michelle, I never knew this song was about Elvis, when I read the lyrics I can see it definitely is though. The lyrics are so profound and the poignancy is even more significant knowing what we now about Elvis from his humble beginnings to his tumultuous ascent to super stardom and beyond. The song itself, has that bluesy laid back country feel to it, very befitting to Elvis and his legacy. Over the years I've heard it many times but from now on when I hear it again, I'll definitely be listening to it in a very different light. The words Black Velvet though, I personally think they take on a new meaning of their own. When you think about black velvet the drink, which in itself is a mixture, of stoutbeer and fine champagne , even thinking along the lines of black being the gloomiest and flattest and champagne being the brightest and bubbliest , the words reflect from saddest to happiest times in relation to his life Think of one being a poorer man's drink and the other being the choice of the wealthiest, think poverty to wealth, pauper to Prince, rags to riches, and even a lowly shack to a mansion, now the words black velvet suddenly come alive, and hold a much deeper, significant, and thought provoking meaning, a true analogy of Elvis,s life . I could see how the lyrics were affecting you Michelle, me too when i delved more deeply into them and literally read between the lines, omg Elvis still has us us searching deep for answers doesn't he. To this day lyrics from a song can make us sit up and think what if, the words he himself said he pondered on many times. I've still got a huge lump in my throat Michelle.

I read or heard somewhere something along the lines of if you were poor in the south then you were uncomfortably hot. Got me thinking if that was the reason Elvis liked his rooms cold? Billy Smith said recently that Elvis’ bedroom was like a meat locker! Great job Michelle, thank you x
