The "Garden spider" is Argiope aurantia which are often distinguished with their yellow, white, and black striped abdomens. They also have thick zigzag patterns in their webbing, often found in the Midwest. The specimen you introduced here to your black widow looks more like Neoscona crucifera or Araneus cavaticus (otherwise known as a "barn spider"), also native to the Midwest. These barn spiders are such an annoyance in August and September in Omaha. Their webs are everywhere and massive, hanging from trees, lightposts, building canopies. I love going for night walks, but avoid passing under trees by the sidewalks because these pests just make their homes everywhere.

The actually coexisted in the web together for about 3 weeks then one day I went out to check on them and the Cellar spider was toast :( RIP

They are expert fighters cellular spiders fighting other spiders alot similar webs as the black window too with its long legs moves so lightly undected by the black widow

yeah.. I put a false widow in there.. and they kinda touched legs like they were going to be cool.. they were living for about a day no issues.. then I came out and checked on them and the false widow was eating my black widow :(
