Genius. Enigma. Mavin: The Genesis and Path to Glory.
From his beginnings as a serial hit-making producer to his transition into a music mogul with global dreams, Don Jazzy’s journey has come to define the expansion of African music in the last decade.
From steering ship at Mo'Hits to his new chapter at Mavin Records, the award-winning industry veteran has had an era-defining career of almost single handedly raising an entire generation of Afrobeats superstars.
Now, the doyen is keener on passing the torch to the next wave of afropop royalty.
In part one of his #BlackBox Interview episode, DonJazzy opens up about his childhood, the genesis of the Mo’ Hits years and the real story behind the G.O.O.D Music deal.

Ebuka is a beast in want he does.. He is exponentially amazing and superb in the ways he bring out words from people whereby paying keen attention and emphasis on things he really feel should be discussed and want to find out about... He is definitely an amazing Presenter and Interviewer! Don Jazzy on the other hand has just been Don Jazzy even though he has evolved pretty well, Man still knows how to navigate a lot of things in the Industry... He is the Industry "Know how"... And that's what make he Legendary and what had kept him relevant yet! Sitting back, Making Stars, Doing Business and Understanding the way things work is just so perfect for him. What a smart person would have done compared to being at the forefront and having to face all those "Wahala". Amazing Interview though... Kudos to Bounce for this! Expecting more amazing personalities and looking forward to insightful talks! WHYTEA

True story. I started school at UNILAG in 2007. In 2009, I found a poster for D’Banj and Don Jazzy’s concert stuck under a chair in my faculty. It was a 2006 concert. After Tongolo came out. I just remembered it now and it made me smile.

This was rather enjoyable. I too thought his persona was just Don Jazzy the sunglasses-wearing-seating-behind-a-chair guy. But then his bag carrying antics- I just didn't get i. It was rather perplexing! But after watching this interview, we get to understand him a bit better. There's something endearing about him with his child like sincerity and honesty. Two qualities we must all choose to have around us sincerity and honest. Good job guys! Udo🙏🏾

What people dont know is that it's common for we Igbos to build a house and rent it out, while staying in a rented boys quarter. Here in the philippines, i own about 4 condominium units in the capital city of Manila but i do not live in any of those properties. I am still renting a place in the village part of the philippines where rent is more economical. The rent in the place i bought property is more than 1k USD a month but the village part is like 2 hundred dollars a month. it makes no sense for me to be staying in one of the 1k per month condo when i know i can rent it out, pay a cheaper rent in the village and also save enough to buy more condominium units. I really dont know what people gain from showing off. seriously!!!!

Don Jazzy I adore you, and I believe you still underestimate how much Nigerians and multitude of other Africans that love you. But just do us a favor we the multitude, just reduce your alcohol intake. This period of this interview shows people like me, how much you love alcohol. Alcohol = high amount of calories. Please do not misunderstand, you drink, yet make lot wisdom conversation. I just don't want to reveal by my calculation the amount of calories you took in while being interviewed. This also tells me that I can easily give advise on how to manage your weight. Please do something, we love you and may God continue to bless you.
