In Greek mythology the cicadas were once humans before the Muses were born. When the Muses came into the world they enchanted them to sing, but the sang too much that they stopped eating and sleeping and eventually died. As a compensation, they were turned into cicadas, so they can sing continuously without any sustenance. In the song, Zora (tthe singer) asks the Muses to turn her into a cicada when she dies, in order to be able to still sing to her beloved one. In folklore, it's said that to hear the ring of a bluebell, is to hear one's death knell.

I can't even count on how many times I've repeated this song on Spotify. This is what I missed in a gothic/symphonic metal music. Not just dark or haunting, but also tragic and heartwrenching. Also in my opinion, this deserves an acoustic version. That part where Zora sings the reff in lower octave with soft piano is just beautiful! Can't wait for more masterpieces by Blackbriar.

A few details I love: I'm pretty sure the rhythm (on the hi-hat) matches the rhythm of the cicada song. I think I hear a cicada on the last second. The slight movements of the wingtips are so realistic! Zora's acting is more nuanced than before, and you can feel the anxiety in her performance. The way Zora sings: "I am leaving I am leaving I am leaving" also expresses this urgency, this anxiety, it's too beautiful! The color of the edges of the wings is exactly the color of her hair! The black reaper and the carriage are so stylish! That's just for the details, because there are dozens of super cool and wonderful things ☺️

I'm just noticing each 3 song (maybe all ?) from a Dark Euphony begins with some kind of reversed sound. Not the same sounds but Cicada, My Soul's Demise and Crimson Faces have all this effect at the very begining of them (after some silence).

Blackbriar is honestly my #1 favorite band ever. I'm so glad I've discovered them. They're a huge symbolism in my life, and they're songs are so haunting and enchanting. I had to drop everything I was doing to see this, and I regret nothing. Phenomenal work as usual, giving me goosebumps and all! I'll be listening to this on repeat for the next few days 💕

I’m so addicted to Blackbriar songs since 2022 spring. I’ve spent the last year singing “ when you hear the following tune, you’ll know, you’ll know”and “all I have found are your mortal remains lying on this dirty ground” and “Is that you dancing in front of my future headstone?” and “oooh did I bruise your ego, by saying we’re equal” and “I tried to warn you my foolish replacement, so you wouldn’t turn to be the madwoman in the basement”. Now I can’t stop singing “I’m walking in your hauntingly beautiful shadow, taunted by monstrous rhododendrons”…. I love your song. I love your aesthetics. My brother bought me tickets to see you in Baltimore a few weeks ago, and I hadn't heard of you until a week before the show. When he reminded me to give you a listen I heard this son first and was like "what the hell is this?!" and "why haven't I heard this amazing band before?" I'm wearing a shirt of your tour now. It took me forever to find the song because of that, sadly, it came up as an ad on youtube and I spent about half of it trying to hear the lyrics so I could find it (thankfully eventually did!)

No, I don't agree. Her voice is very focused and strong. Amazing voice control! You have to use headphones for a better experience.

Modern headphones and Bluetooth speakers tend to colour the sound You need to neutralize the equalizing or turn down the bass a bit This studio mix is close to perfection imho
